Has anyone here heard of John Scofield's drummer, Adam Deitch? While not really a fusion drummer, he plays the sickest grooves I have ever heard!

I failed to add Chester Thompson to my original list of fusion drummers. Thompson most known for his stint with Genesis actually started as the drummer for Weather Report and a fine one at that. I caught WR back in the mid-70s with Thonpson on drums and he was sensational. WR has released a live cd with Thompson on some of the cuts: "Live and Unreleased".

Jon Christensen, not really fusion all the time, but still phenomenal and very understated, which is what I like in a drummer

Dick has finally mentioned Peter Erskine, thank god.
Harvey Mason deserves more attention, imo. The late Carlos Vega and John Guerin should be recognised. The versatile likes of Bernard Purdie and Chester Thompson. More up and comers like Ricky Lawson, Will Kennedy and Manu Katche are also interesting. |

Looking still the same after all these years...

Yeah, I've been listening to Dennis Chambers' playing on McLaughlin's latest, "Industrial Zen" and he's excellent.

I didn't vote because I think the perennially underrated Jon Hiseman (Colloseum II) was left out. He is INCREDIBLY badass on CII's 'War Dance' and 'Electric Savage'...

- due to the fact that Tony Williams has not been selected to populate this poll - I don't even care to vote.

Dave Weckl from the Elektrik band takes a cheesy SIMMONS drumset and makes it sound like the titons! Just for that fact, he wins. Is the Elektrik band on here? It should be. Cobham is incredible too.

BTW, I've voted Lenny White. Edited by Andrea Cortese - November 28 2006 at 11:26 |
