I love Bruford, but as far as fusion goes, Billy Cobham has the greatest style.

Robert Wyatt's idiosyncratic drumming was to be heard as Soft Machine evolved from a psychedelic to one of earliest European jazz rock bands - some times said to be a cross of Ringo Starr and Elvin Jones's playing!

Dave Weckl from the Elektrik band takes a cheesy SIMMONS drumset and makes it sound like the titons! Just for that fact, he wins. Is the Elektrik band on here? It should be. Cobham is incredible too.

    - due to the fact that Tony Williams has not been selected to populate this poll - I don't even care to vote.

I didn't vote because I think the perennially underrated Jon Hiseman (Colloseum II) was left out. He is INCREDIBLY badass on CII's 'War Dance' and 'Electric Savage'...
...it is real...it is Rael...

But Dennis Chambers almost beats him out in my book, the man is an amazing drummer.
Yeah, I've been listening to Dennis Chambers' playing on McLaughlin's latest, "Industrial Zen" and he's excellent.

Dick has finally mentioned Peter Erskine, thank god.

Harvey Mason deserves more attention,imo.

The late Carlos Vega and John Guerin should be recognised.

The versatile likes of Bernard Purdie and Chester Thompson.

More up and comers like Ricky Lawson, Will Kennedy and Manu Katche are also interesting.
Looking still the same after all these years...
