I would like to apologise for my outburst last week - particularly to Marcello - and thank all my friends for their kind PMs supporting the point I was making, and the emails of ridicule (thanks, Reed ).

However, it must be said that there are better ways of making points, and in this case I chose the wrong way. I'm not sure you could call it a decision, as it was a kind of spontaneous combustion - but I should have thought it through better and taken my percieved grievance through the proper channels.

My only defence is that I guess I just love this site too much and want to see it grow and prosper - as it surely will.

As anyone who has been a member for more than a month will testify, there is something uniquely unifying about this site - even if we don't all agree all of the time. Sure, there are other sites and forums built on progressive rock - but few in my experience that really concentrate on the most important thing of all - the music itself.

Anyway, I don't want to get into some kind of speech, but like everyone else that's ever talked of leaving this site - it was all empty words, and I will be lurking somewhere...

Could it be your thread..?

Finally, Welcome Back my Friend to the forum that never ends.

Actually, your words created the cleansing process that is now underway. It was/is needed and your "abilities" and insights are very important, as well as appreciated. You should be commended for opening the door to reason and evolution.

Thanks,

Cert:

First, welcome back.  Second, danbo said you should be commended for "opening the door to reason and evolution."  I think we have to make that reason and revolution!

Please make sure to read through your original "Pathetic" thread, the "adding new bands" thread (in "announcements"), and the new threads in the collaborators' forums (including "prog or...," "changes in star review system," "non-entities," and "a bold, grand statement"), as there are quite a number of ideas and suggestions floating around that will have bearing on the re-vamp of the site.

Again, glad you could re-join us.  We really, really missed you...

Peace.

by revamp do you mean just updating and improving the site or is there going to be a complete makeover? if so when?

frenchie:

Well, right now it looks like updating and improving, plus perhaps a little more.  It will really be up to Rony and Max.  However, there will almost certainly be (i) a clearer definition of "prog," as well as probable clearer descriptions of the subgenres, (ii) new subgenres, (iii) re-assessment of who belongs in what subgenre, (iv) new, clear rules for adding new bands (who is likely to get in, and who isn't), (v) new forum categories and sub-categories, (vi) new, clear rules and policies re reviews, (vii) a possibly slightly modified rating system, and (viii) clear general rules and policies of the site.

There may be other things as well, but these are the "most discussed" among the issues.

Peace.

I've now read all the way through the "Pathetic" thread (for the first time) - and it's a bit spooky, because the first post in this thread looks like a reply to it - and I don't think I could have chosen a more apt title for this thread, given the way it panned out!

I have to say that I deserved all the criticism I got for style. Personally, I would award myself -5 stars.

I would also like to say that it was not a deliberate "stunt" to try to "blackmail" the site admins into anything, or a sad way of trying to find out how popular I am. If you look at many of my past postings, you can probably tell that being popular is not a great concern of mine...

OTOH, I am really, really touched by the amount of support shown and the kind recognition that my action was out of character.

I am also delighted to see that maani managed to turn a stupid negative into such a huge positive - with some BRILLIANT ideas coming in from all sides for improvements to the site. A Better Way, indeed

YOU GUYS ROCK AND THIS SITE ROCKS!!!

Greetings from Sunny Swinton - You know I may one day listen to Radio head.....

But as the man from the BBC once said (In the black and white days)........

"And I hope that all your doughnuts, turn out like fannies"........

He said it..............
