Nick Raskulinecz has been interviewd recently and talks about the new Rush album (slted for an April 2007 release)

“For a few weeks, I was basically the fourth member of Rush,” Raskulinecz says of his production method. “I become part of it. I have to really be able to get inside the songs; when I make a record, I can’t just be casual about it.”

He adds that the upcoming release will have “the sound and vibe of an old Rush record”—i.e. one of those gloriously overwrought sci-fi prog-metal epics he grew up with, albums like 2112 and Hemispheres and Permanent Waves.

Promising! Too bad about the tone the journalist takes in the introduction though.

I really think this next album is going to be great!

Well if the release is in April, I can wait for it to come out without going totally insane over anticipation of the album.

come on, you guys, he's just promoting his work...

i'm a little unfaithful...let's wait for its release first..

besides, if i were working on a Rush album, even if that would be their worse, it would be their best to me...

let's just wait...

Micky's interest is peaked... my views on Rush don't need to be hashed out again hahahhah.

Same thing here.

I'm just not sure if Geddy's voice can still cut it for those types of tracks.

Nowadays, his voice sounds much closer to Santa than to any of the elves LOL

The point about longer epics is not in quotes. So beware, it probably won't be like that.

I don't think there will be any epics, actually I hope the album will be in the vein of Vapour Trails.

Great news- I'm really excited for April! New Rush (my favorite band) and Porcupine Tree.  This Rush album is sounding very promising- hopefully worth the wait. ClapTongue

I give that entire article very little credibility for some reason. I don't doubt that the next Rush album will be good, but I think it will be much more hard rock than Prog. No one except for the author of the article ever said it would be proggy, and what does that guy know? It's supposed to be kind of a return to roots, but look at what the producer listens to for music. Come on. If by return to roots they mean a return to Rush's hard-rock stylings, then I believe it, but I don't think it will be the mystical proggy stuff of the mid to late 70s that we love Rush for.
