    Posted: January 31 2007 at 03:04
Lee Kerslake has left Uriah Heep for health reasons. Kerslake joined the band for the "Demons and Wizards" album, and apart from a brief spell with Ozzie Osbourne, has been with them ever since. Prior to that, he was in The Gods with Ken Hensley.

We wish you well Lee, here's to a speedy recovery!

Official Details:
Uriah Heep regret to announce that, due to
ongoing health problems, longstanding drummer Lee
Kerslake is to leave the band with immediate effect.

During 2006, when Uriah Heep toured in some
twenty territories ranging from Indonesia, India
and Thailand through to Brazil, Peru, Russia and
Bulgaria, concluding with a six week Acoustic
Tour through Europe, Lee found the rigors of
constant touring increasingly stressful and will
now take the opportunity over the next few months
to embark on a stringent campaign in order to resolve
his health issues.

Comments Heep lead guitarist and founder member
Mick Box: "All the band are fully behind Lee in
his efforts to become fully match fit again. For
me, it is particularly devastating to lose not
only someone who I have worked with for some
thirty five years, but also one of my closest and
oldest friends who I love like a brother. It is,
however, in the best interests of both Lee and
the band that a change is made now. This is an
important time in the history of the band - We
have just signed a new worldwide recording
contract with Sanctuary Records and are about to
commence recording our first new studio album in
almost a decade and it is vital that there is
consistency between both the recording and the
forthcoming eighteen month long world tour to
coincide with the album’s release in September".

The band will now start actively auditioning
potential drummers and we will keep you informed
as events unfold.

Lee Kerslake was perfect for Uriah HeepCry

Anyway good luck and get well soon.

This means this current line up has ended after 21 years.

A great shame indeed- Lee's drumming will leave a void that I wouldn't envy anybody following- and yes, it ends the current line-up, but obviously Lee's health must come first. Let's hope he recovers swiftly.

Take care Lee.

Well the band has a pool of former drummers:Keith Baker,Nigel Olsen,Ian Clark,Alan Napier and Chris Slade.
I think Slade is still active, why not ask him to come back?
I've also heard Baker might still be active, who knows.......

Let me be optmistic: maybe he can recover his health and get back to the drum stool.

About UH former drummers: Keith Baker still plays in small clubs in England, Nigel Olson is with Elton John again, and Chris Slade runs several business in and out of the music world. I don't know anything about Clarke and Napier - any information?

Chris Slade played with Asia on thier last album,an album that strangely sounds a bit(a lot) like Uriah Heep.

One of the most powerful drummers in the circuit, hope Lee solves his problems because with only Muick Box from the glorious lineup, it's hard to go on.

Get well Lee!!!!!!!

Yup,that's him.
He also played with AC/DC and The Firm if I'm not mistaken.

Hope you get better soon, Lee. Love you and your voice. Great "Paradise/The Spell" version on Magician's Birthday Party DVD.

Sad to hear the news. It was fun to watch some of his show during the last years! But there's many fine records left to listen.
