I can see the brilliance in this band , but after reading so many conflicting points of views about Scarsick I`m left not knowing what to do ! should I get this CD or give it a miss ?

I like this album. Very modern, innovative, fresh, fair and difficult. Yes, someone can say "It sounds too close to Korn, Eminem, Papa Roach and other crap", but it's wrong. Just listen to it at least 5 times - and you'll not be disapointed.

It is worth buying even if it is not as good as the ithers, just don't xpect much apart from boring poppy-metal.

^^^^^^^^^
Then why is it worth buying???????
Masque,I love PoS,and consider them one of the brighter shining lights in the prog metal genre.
But.......
I thought Scarsick was garbage.I don't care for the lyrical content, and I don't like the music.I think it wasn't a step back for Gildenlow,I think he took about TEN steps back.

Its the last PoS album you should buy but definitely give it a listen, I'd say i was about average over all which is below-par for PoS.

I'd pick it up, if I were you. Not the best, but it's worth having.

If you like PoS and are familiar with most of their albums, then you should pick it up. It's good, but far from being something special to me.

You should try to listen to it beforehand (at least listen to samples) ...
My recommendation, though, is to get it. I like the album a lot. It's definitely different, but I like the variety, and would have been disappointed if Gildenlow had just done the same old thing. |

That would be too cruel ... I think he only took about 5 steps back, not more. BTW: The album was top album of January in my favorite prog magazine ... that sucked just about as much as last year's choice for January (David Gilmour - On An Island). |

You should get it only if you are a completionist and have all other albums by PoS.

Well, I haven't really made up my mind about it yet, but so far I like it. As to the references to Nu-metal and such, I haven't really heard much from any of those bands (Korn, Eminem, Papa Roach, etc.), but from what I have heard I don' think Scarsick sounds like them much at all. But as I said, I apparently haven't heard as much of their stuff as the people here that hate them
In any case, a few songs really stand out for me (not the first 3 though), and overall I like that it is different and somewhat unexpected. I need to hear it more, but I consider it on par with PE Pt.1 (Sacralidge!!!) which I is my least favorite of the PoS albums I've heard (which is all but the first two). My favorite is still Remedy Lane, followed by BE and 12:5 (I know, a live album of sorts, but closer to the kind of stuff I really like..........though I do have a taste for some prog metal, PoS being the best overall IMO). In other words, it's worth getting if you like them. Just don't expect it to be a continuation of their other albums (hmmm, sound "progressive" don't you think? ) Edited by infandous - February 15 2007 at 15:17 |

You should get it if you're a hardcore fan, or if you're good at convincing yourself trash is gold.

Always good to try things.
Granted I haven't heard the full album yet though. |

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

If he is a hardcore fan, he would not ask.
But same applies to "completionist" as well...., so basically answer is "yes"...

I bought it right away and never regret it. Great album, four stars IMO and worth getting if you have all the other albums.
