Noodling?
Pretty well choreographed noodling, in that case.
I can't see how something so varied and full of movement would be boring.
I voted "Amazing".

The whole of the first section (vocal section) of the song is magical, with very earthy, pagan, mystical Celtic folk leanings. Then what you called Noodling finishes the track. Noodling is actually the fine art of musical improvisation, a trademark of all eras of King Crimson. And I believe that the introduction of this improvisational art into rock music was a major factor in the development of progressive rock. KC was one of the first of the "Noodlers." Moonchild is very unique for its strange blend of folk, and then an abrupt merger into a jazz-rock fusion improvisation. But hasn't KC's music always been somewhat strange? I voted Amazing

I love how it starts, but think the improvs are a bit of a miss IMHO
and my buddies of Globalys do an 8-min+ version of this without the free improvs, but with a Soft Machine-like crossing Floyd Echoes-like extrapolation, which sounds so superb.

I totally agree, there is much more then yust simple noodling going on, i think the whole track is very beautiful and its a vital part of the album for me wich i culd not yust skip. And if you people who say it sux actualy lisened to the song insted of yust skip it meby you whuld hear it. I voted > Amazing!

It's not bad. The beginning is really good but I don't mind the noodling and I'm not compelled to skip at all. It just makes the title track sound even better

It's OK. Somebody HAD to do it, just like somebody had to paint the "White Square on White Background" painting, or write a poem by sticking together cuts from newspapers... It may not be very pretty by itself, but without it we would have had a lot less of what we got to have; that's why I rate extremely high vanguard art.

I view the whole song like this: In the beginning a female person named "Moonchild" is introduced; a kind of dreamy person. Then she actually appears, and the improvisations that follow depict her ramblings on the lawn near the sundial. A beautiful and melancholic mental image. Never would I skip that part.
