Kate Bush is the female equivalent of David Byrne with Talking Heads.

Listen to The Dreaming and Hounds of Love and then listen to "Drugs" by Talking Heads.  Its the same avan-garde music with passionate vocal delivery, approaching lunacy.

"Pull Out the Pin" from The Dreaming
"I want life, pull out the pin"

From what I've heard of each, I greatly prefer Tori Amos. She has a much nicer voice

Love them both - both are superb musicians, singers and songwriters. Both bravely delve into themes and issues that other singer/songwriters would never dream of touching. They both get tagged as quirky and kookie - but I find them to be refreshingly intellegent and honest.

The sexy Tori Amos. Not to mention, a heck of a piano player.

I like them both, but not all material by both.  But I voted Kate Bush, because she was one of my first music loves as a tiny tot, and we share a birthday, and she's just....I dunno....awesome.  Special.  Not that Tori isn't...I just don't have the same emotional attachment to some of her work than some of Kate's work.

For a 2 option poll, this was hard.  Clap

It would certainly be interesting to watch.  My money's on Kate Bush in the third round.LOL

my money is on the red head..... you don't f*ck with redheads,  they can get ...nasty LOLOuchWink

Yup she can kick Kate's just as lovely arse off the stage
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

I voted for kate...so many reason really.......er, like Hyperborea I am not crazy about female vocals, although I do adore Kate Bush, Tori.......CAN NOT STAND HER. brings me out in hives.

I remember seeing "Wuthering Heights" on TOTP....... I SO wanted to be her when I grew up! (obviously.......that didn't happen ) But she'd beat Tori in a fight ANY day!
