I prefer David Gilmour's voice, although Waters is good on Animals.

you know, a lot of groups that I love have a lead singer combo (2 vocalists) , and it adds variety to theoverall sound. Waters's voice is best on the cynical hard edged stuff, Gilmour on the dreamier, mellow songs, & both had skill at singing the blues based songs.

David Gilmour, as Waters can't sing at all. (nor can he play the bass)

That's a pretty STUPID comment a 8 year old boy would do.
You may like or not like the guy, but at least respect what he has done for a career. What have you done, you to judge his vocals and bass playing as zero!
This is the guy who composed most of the music of a band named PINK fLOYD!
This is the most stupid post i ever read on PA

I agree, that was sort of harsh.

Gilmour's vocals are so sterile. They make me feel nothing; I hate them.
On the other hand Roger is one of my favorite vocalists. His vocals are so human. I can't get enough. |

Waters over Gilmour, though I dont't rate Waters that highly as vocalist in the prog rock.

In this department Dave. But when they played together, both were flawless, the combination worked perfectly, they knew exactly what parts to take. Iván |

In the studio:
David Gilmour. Studios albums I love this man voice is soo beautiful, But live he sounds totaly different. It reminds me of the TV series the HULk and becasue of that I choose Roger water.!!!! he brilliant in the studio and live. Also he still can sing after all these years beautifully. Totally the opposite of Mr. Gilmour. |

Point is, he didn't compose most of the music. Yes, he wrote most of the lyrics (which I'll admit are mostly good), but the best material of PF, like Shine on you crazy diamond, Atom heart mother or Echoes were written in collaboration. Also, for the title track of WYWH, he didn't write a single note, he just delivered the lyrics and David Gilmour wrote all the music. And I don't believe it's coincidence that the best song on The Wall, namely Comfortably Numb, is co-written with David Gilmour.
So stop the nonsense about R. Waters did everything! Without David Gilmour's guitarplaying, PF wouldn't have been so popular. If David had left PF, that would have been much worse than the departure of R. Waters

Waters and Gilmour are both poor singers. Rick Wright is the best singer of the band IMO.

Waters for me too - Gilmour as a singer is vastly overrated IMHO. |

My vote goes to David Gilmour, who I greatly admire for his singing skills.
Waters is definitely more histrionic, but his voice often gets on my nerves! Truth is that I can't imagine Gilmour singing The Trial or other freaky cuts from The Wall and The Final Cut A word for Rick Wright: he's always been sorely underrated as a composer and as a singer (when it comes to playing, he's surely no virtuoso, but as I repeated many times, I don't care too much about technicism) |
