Well I vote hair metal cause that was the first metal music I listen in the 80's and I still listen to some to extend and at least once a year.
Quiet Riot
80's Ozzy
Iron Maiden
Metallica
Dio
Deft Leopard
Scorpion
Judas Priest.
Mottle crew
Accept.
White snake
Europe.
I dislike the other metal's sub genre with the exception of NIN.

I dont get people calling Tool "Nu metal" it is totaly absurd. I have followed them since 91 and have not heard a trace of this thing that they call "Nu metal".
I hate genres, I hate labels I do not even like to use the term "Prog" much less "Nu Metal". These terms limit creativity and turn people off to music they might like just because they fear the label. It is "genreism" and I do not like it! |

Should've added metalcore to the poll.
I choose Industrial Metal, I like Ministry and NIN. I do somewhat enjoy hair metal too.
Nu-metal is simply awful.

Hair metal. Not for the metal, but for the hair.

i dislike industrial metal but one of my favorite bands is Fear Factory, they created something unique, the machine gun type of riffing is awesome, there should be more bands like Fear Factory (first album of SYL was a FF clone, Mnemic is very FF-ish, new metalbands are copying the machinegun riffs, that's great!

30 seconds to mars, fall out boy and mcr aren't metal... They suck though, but not because they're "emo", simply bacause they write boring music imo. Anyway if Deftones is considered nu-metal then i would go with nu-metal, but there are some really crappy nu-metal bands out there like linkin park, korn and especially limp bizkit. However i consider Deftones more like alternative metal/rock. I like NIN but i really haven't heard much from the industrial genre. VAST is considered industrial sometimes though, and they're great.. Since i consider hair-metal to be one of the most horrible genres in music ever, the choice is between nu and industrial.. Industrial it is |

Hoobastank are the most un-metal band ever, nor are they emo in any way.
I suppose Nu Metal, although Industrial is probably more interesting (but I've heard very little from it). Edited by Ghandi 2 - May 25 2007 at 00:48 |

I really can't say I like any of those genres enough to have a least favorite. I may like the odd industrial, hair or nu metal band here or there, but that's usually about it.

From what I've heard from the genre, Industrial Metal by far. But there is some NuMetal and Hair Metal that's capable of sparkning interest in me, if only for nostalgic reasons.

Industrial.
And bashing Hair Metal and Nu Metal, genres which have "BASH ME" written all over them, is simply conformist. |

I'm disappointed - neither of these players are avant-garde! Al di Meola.
haha i know. but the poll itself is avant-garde
|
