Boud Deun (RIO/Avant) www.myspace.com/bouddeun
this band has probably been mentioned a lot...Orthrelm (Prog. Metal or Avant) www.myspace.com/orthrelm
Battles (Art Rock) www.myspace.com/battlesband (one song called dance is on this site and it is amazing...and the reason i think they should be added. You can recognise Ian Williams (ex-Don Cab) perfectly. The other site with more stuff...www.myspace.com/battlestheband
Curlew (jazz rock/avant) http://www.cuneiformrecords.com/bandshtml/curlew.html this is all I could find for Curlew....very awesome band though.
Godzpik Pink (avant) http://www.mp3fanatic.com/GodzikPink/ this is all I could find for Godzik Pink
Spleen Vs. Ideal (Avant/Metal) www.myspace.com/speenvsideal
Holy Smokes (avant prog/art rock) www.myspace.com/holysmokesouterspace
Gorge Trio (avant/noise rock(if that ever happens) www.myspace.com.gorgetrio

Idiot Saint Crazy (avant) www.myspace.com/theidiotsaintcrazy
Sun City Girls (Avant) www.myspace.com/suncitygirls
Art Ensemble of Chicago (jazz rock/avant) www.myspace.com/artensembleofchicago
Rumah Sakit (post-rock) sounds a lot like Don Cab. http://music.download.com/rumahsakit/3600-8606_32-100056817.html
Storm and Stress (post rock) www.myspace.com/mmmmfood
Dilatazione (post rock) http://www.last.fm/music/Dilatazione

Boud Deun is already here in JRF
I'll go over the others later
EDIT - I'll go over your Avant-rock suggestions and let you know what you can work on if you want. Edited by avestin - June 07 2007 at 13:55 |

Tarentel are already here, and Volta Do Mar have been (unofficially) cleared for addition.
If you feel like writing a bio for them, I'm pretty sure we can get them added. I just need to check the situation with my teammates. |

Ok, here are few others I'm more familiar with:
Idiot Saint Crazy (avant) I think these guy have a strong argument to be on the sight under Avant-prog. I wouldn't be unhappy to see them here. Sun City Girls (Avant) I might be a little bias, my mind keeps reverting back to alvarius B's solo albums, they are definately avant-garde, any suggestion on their most proggy albums? So at the moment I think they are boarderline. Art Ensemble of Chicago (jazz rock/avant) Not sure if I agree with this suggestion, from the album I have heard sounds more like free-jazz, so not really anything within the realms of rock. Do you have any suggestions of their more rock orientated albums to check out? |

You are probably right about Art Ensemble of Chicago. They just have the fushion element.
Sun City Girls - Torch of the Mystics is just amazingly avant. Reminds me of This Heat - This Hear or something along the lines of that...just weirder.

Battles has the guitarist from Don Cab. It would be an excellent add.

okay, the Art Rock team checked all the bands that had suggestion for Art Rock, here's what we came with:
Battles to be suggested for Post Holy Smokes is not progressive rock We Be The Echo suggested for the Math section of Avant-prog Metronome The City Art or Pysch, though not extremely progressive I think we shall resume considering Battles for Art Rock is the Post Team rejects it (though, I myself, have a doubtful vote against it, Don Caballero or no Don Caballero relation); and we will focus more on Metronome The City once Psych gaves a bit of impression on it. For the electronic suggestion, the band will not be added. Thanks! |

This sounds really intesting! Do they have any more extended pieces? as it is quite hard to gage their sound from 4 2min samples. |

I'm struggling to see if we (PA) can get over to create a new genre for Math Rock, Noise Rock and Brutal Prog artists so bands like:
Holy Smokes (avant prog/art rock) www.myspace.com/holysmokesouterspace Volta Do Mar (post rock) www.myspace.com/voltadomar Cheval De Frise (avant) www.myspace.com/chevaldefrise Rumah Sakit (post-rock) sounds a lot like Don Cab. http://music.download.com/rumahsakit/3600-8606_32-100056817.html Storm and Stress (post rock) www.myspace.com/mmmmfood Orthrelm (Prog. Metal or Avant) www.myspace.com/orthrelm Could fit in. By the way those are the ones from your post that I know of that would fit here. Edited by chamberry - June 18 2007 at 18:07 |

You can listen to some songs on their label's website
along with tracks from many other awesome bands. This is probaby my favorite label along side Tzadik and Load.

If we had a noise math rock section I could suggest a lot more so I really hope that happens. I like noise and math rock more than symphonic prog and the likes.
