For me Uriah Heep joined hard, groundbreaking sound with classic prog structure (especially in July Morning, Salisbury, Shadow of Grief, Gyspy, Pilgrim and so on).
P.S. I mean hard rock no prog-metal. |
you probably confused Epsilon with Epitath. Epsilon is almost rockabilly done the 70's manner.
Epitath deserves to in the Archives.

let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword

| Yeah, Still Life is really great but I think that it's hard to call them heavy prog 'cause there are no guitars .

BTW, these are mostly bands classified as art-rock. Shouldn't this be in the prog polls?

Atomic Rooster is my favorite from that "Hard Prog" genre.
Captain Beyond is my second-favorite from the genre.

I can say Deep Purple was one of the first bands to do the rock band/orchestra thing so I guess they qualify. | I'm sure that you aren't too old 'cause most of these bands are just from 70'...and lots of them are well known (especially Uriah Heep, Birth Control, Jane, Kansas, Lucifer's Friend, Spooky Tooth & Warhorse) P.S. I'm really interested why this pool was replaced to "non-prog music"

Nice poll. You mean, who represents heavy prog the best? I voted for Birth Control, with Heep close second. Bloodrock should also be mentioned, IMHO. And that other obscure band...what was the name...led baloon or something...
