With both bands bringing out top albums this year (DT "Systematic Chaos" and PT "Fear of a Blank Planet") not going to be easy.

Ok, I'm pretty much over my infatuation with prog-metal and almost never listen to it any longer, but I have to go with DT. I have all the albums by both bands, but the PT albums never hooked me like the DT ones did.

PT still holds the album of the year for me..although I haven't heard Amaran's Plight yet and there are going to be more nice releases in the next 4 months. Systematic Chaos was ok.

I like DT more, though FOABP was the better album (though Systematic Chaos was a very very good surprise) by the way, you know DT is going to be absolutely MURDERED in this poll, right? This is a poll on PA you got here

I lke both bands a lot. However, I prefer emotion over technical prowness. PT is the more emotional band. Thus, they get my vote.

Exactly the same for me.
Regarding the last releases by these bands I also prefer SC over FOABP.
Although both are very good I find FOABP a little overrated.
