hello all! I've been reviewing albums for progarchives for quite awhile and I feel that I should be designated as a reviewer. I think i've done 27 or so reviews, not quite 30, but i'll get there and surpass it in time. My early reviews are short I admit, but my more recent reviews have become quite lengthy and much more informative! Go ahead, read some of my reviews and make the ultimate choice! Should or shouldn't purplepiper be a prog reviewer?

You shouldn't have to campaign for it.If your reviews are good they should speak for themselves.

You both have good reviews One day you'll make it as PR's, just keep on improving and try out styles that you feel fit yourself the best. That's what I did

Yeah, some of my early ones sucked. But I think I've gotten a lot better at it. From this day forward, I shall count you among my friends! |

Or you can do what I did.
Become a Senior Member on the Forums Write 100 reviews Tell the collaborators that they're missing an album in an artist's discography instead of adding it yourself. You are...one third of the way there...just make your reviews as good as possible: not necessarily long (but that helps) but comprehensive, with excellent vocabulary, and use the very best grammar and spelling you can. (THAT MEANS CAPITALS!!!!!!!!!!!) |

Wow, quite ballsy there Piper. Not even I have attempted to sway public opinion in my favor, and I've tried just about every dirty trick in the book to become a Tull reviewer. I'll have to try this sometime...
As for you? I'll have to echo what everyone else is saying. Work on the forums (be a good lad), work on the reviews, make 'em clean (that is, free of grammatical error, which I did detect), readable (enjoyable writing) but still techincal (talkin' about the music without resorting to namecalling, DESPITE how fun it is). You know, just the easy stuff that all budding-to-proffesional writers have to deal with.
Some personal advice: don't be afraid to review more than the classic (and I mean more than obscure albums or artists; reviewing bad albums is a hoot, trust me), and branch out a little (there are more bands than Yes, Genesis and Crimso). Oh, and try not to get caught up in some sort of conceptual reviewing cycle (despite how fun THAT is...).
Now, if you excuse me, I have another Tull compilation to review.

If you think you have met the prerequisites (which are just guidelines of course) as detailed in the FAQ's thread, drop a PM to Atkingani seeing consideration.

Usually it's a bad idea to create threads about a single member ... even about yourself. I speak from personal experience!

Your reviews aren't bad, but obviously you gotta reach a more wide range of genres to think about being prog reviewer.
Personally, lately I always do care of my reviews to get over the 400 words. I think that's also an important thing to consider if you wanna be a prog reviewer. |

The best you can is good enough...
