I just read that Ministry disbanded...

While being far from prog, it was still one of my favorite bands. Now I'll probably never see them liveUnhappy

Anyone else saddened by this news?

It was in the Classic Rock magazine of this month. I quote:

"Ministry have decided to call it a day, ending a career that has lasted 27 years and produced 11 albums. The pioneering industrial band's swansong, The Last Sucker, is available on September 18. Band leader Al Jourgensen plans to focus on his new label, 13th Planet Records, and various side projects."

I see. It's not on their web site though.... Haven't heard them in a while, but at some point any band will call it quits. Unless they're called the Rolling Stones or Phil Collins of course. Wink

EDIT: the title of the new album speaks for itself I guess.

It seems to me that a "band" can't "break up" if it only has one official member.  Ministry has pretty much been The Al Jourgensen Project for a number of years now - well, really since the beginning if you think about it.  Maybe it would be more accurate to say he's decided to retire the name?

That said, Ministry was great at its peak.

Ministry have been inactive before for long periods of time, but this is the first time (I believe) they announced a break-up. Plus Al Jourgensen has dozens of side-projects, so it's hard to tell what his plans are on the long run. I'm just hoping for a reunion-tour,
so I can see them live at least once.
