Will never happen.   From what I understand, Ray Shulman has not touched the bass since 1982.   Read an interview with Derek Shulman in which he basically says, "Don't any of you out there even think about us getting together for a musical reunion".    Derek seems very happy doing what he's doing right now.   Kind of tragic that Ray put the bass down 25 years ago since he was a killer bass player but I guess he just got burned out and decided not to continue as a studio session musician.     Guess people sometimes burn out on it.

I do see that they sometimes get together at a conference and sign autographs.   I can't recall where but I remember seeing photos of Gary Green, Derek Shulman, Kerry Minnear and Ray Shulman together at some prog fest about 2 years ago.   They were signing autographs and sitting at the dinner table with fans, etc..    So at least they're still making appearances.   A musical reunion won't happen though   Cry

Both albums and tours... Who knows, maybe they will make something great? Even if the album isn't very good, it's worth a try.

In this era of the Ipod, pirated MP3's, and pop nonsense, a reunion by a band like Yes would be welcome. A studio album, however unlikely,  would be great, although it would no doubt be an indie release since the majors don't know what real music is these days. Dead

I don't see a problem with anyone reforming; as long as there's an audience, why the hell not? I saw Genesis' gig from Dusseldorf that was broadcast in UK cinemas and it was brilliant, I enjoyed myself hugely. Let alone the fact that the venues for the concerts were often packed out, even the cinema I went to was pretty packed too, so demand is still there.

Citing 'Open Your Eyes' is a bit harsh, as that album's something of a non-entity, really; certainly, at their best, as Febus pointed out, the later 'The Ladder' and 'Magnification' had some genuinely excellent material on them, albeit alongside a bit too much AOR.

Both tour and studio if they still feel they can make great music and why not? they are older and wiser and got more experience, like VdGG & KC both can still make great stuff and so can Yes and probobly Genesis culd too if they got Gabriel and Hackett back. ELP on the other hand have to much problem with big egos like they always did i dont see that working and probobly not pink floyd ither.

Nothing wrong with a tour, its not like there leaving a mark on their career...like coming out with a crap album.

Genesis wouldn't make another Invisible Touch.  Who would buy that these days?  If they recorded music, which I read they were interested in it, I'm guessing it's going to be a mix of both, if not leaning towards prog. I mean, look at their setlist.  It's got a whole bunch of their older stuff.  Also, if you remember, they wanted a reunion with Peter to do all of Lamb.  I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with what they would make in the studio.  It would be at least worth a listen.

Oh, and so are King Crimson.

Others, Yes, ELP etc.. Look what happened when they reformed.

"Open Your Eyes (Close Your Ears" - Yes

"In The Hot Seat (Listening to cold music)" - ELP

two for starters.. terrible terrible albums.  If they only realised that classic Prog had come back in vogue around the 90s they could have produced something better.

I agree with you about OPEN YOUR EYES, but the last 2 THE LADDER and MAGNIFICATION definitely hold their own worth and there is nothing to be ashamed for as there is galore of great YESmusic on them.Smile

I don't know about anybody else but I'd love to see the original Mahavishnu Orchestra back in the studio and I'd drive the bus if they wanted to go back out on tour.

Where is the option "Both, for tours and studio"?
Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why... (D. Gilmour)
