Topic: Hoyry Kone vs. Alamaailman Vasarat Posted: October 11 2007 at 11:40 |
Two bands that share some musicians, even though one was started when the other ended... so sharing woulndt exactly be the right word. Never the less, please do vote
I only have Kone´s second album, just heard it and I think it´s brilliant!

Go with Höyry-Kone... more solid and consistent albums than Alamaailman...

I know very little about them: I heard once "Kaarmelautakunta" and "Huono Parturi". Must listen to them again...

From what I've heard (Huono Parturi, Kaarmelautakunta, Maahan), Kone's compositions are more powerful and memorable. In spite of the unique instrumentation of Alamaailman Vasarat, their music is fairly simple. Hoyry-Kone's addition of an excellent vocalist is also another plus.
I must mention, the cello used by both bands creates an amazingly dark sound, and really adds an interesting dimention to their music!

AV for me. Hoyry Kone is excellent but AV is just one of the best, most creative bands in the world today; the double cello lineup is killer!

Both are very interesting bands, based on the samples I've had so far.

I think Steam-Engine is a tad better than Underworld Hammers. Sorry, I voilated the names into English :) anyway, I never got in to AV, but I still ferquently listen to H-K, which must mean I like them better.

I'll go with Höyre Kone, though AV are not far behind. I really like both bands music, being creative in approach and sound.

Must have missed this before; just on a Höyry-Kone kick today.
Alamaailman Vasarat is terrific, but HK's Houno Parturi, in particular, is such a fabulous album. Went with HK.
