Topic: its scrambled eggs Posted: March 12 2005 at 11:49 |
i was reading the lyrics to selling england by the pound and the very last lyrics are apparently "its scrambled eggs"!!!, almost as funny as mike oldfielf ending his 40 minute epic instrumental album, tubular bells with the sailors hornpipe!!!
so what is everybodys favourite album closures? whether serious or funny
i am especially fond of the end of dream theaters - scenes from a memory, it turns out that the hypnotherapist is the reincarnated spirit of the murder from 1928 and kills nicholas (according to mike portnoy on the live scenes dvd audio commentary).
deloused in the comatorium ends with the lines "who bought me here?" which i love and frances the mute ends the way it began, just like selling england.

Hi Frenchie,
Did you know that "SCRAMBLED EGGS" was the first title and the first word of what will be "YESTERDAY", the most knowing Beatles Song ?
I don't know if there is any ralation with the Scrambeld Eggs of Genesis, but it's curious...
Best greetings...

What's with the eggs at the end of Genesis albums? "As Sure as Eggs is Eggs", "It's Scrambled Eggs" and "It is chicken, it is eggs"... someone mentioned it to me once - does it have any significance?
I like the end of Trilogy by ELP, it's not particularly original but when I was learning to play it it was one of the first bits I could do right so it holds a place in my heart

Eclipse on DSOTM (pink floyd) certainly deserves mention.

LED ZEP (House of the Holy) on "The Crunge" where Bonham (?) says: "Where's that confounded bridge?"
CREAM (Disraeli Gears) on "Mother's Lament" (a Python kind of tune) "Do you want to do it again?"
GENESIS - (SEBTP) on "Aisle of Plenty" where they're are naming off the
prices of various items, "...for 15p" "for 24 and a half" etc...
FLOYD - (WYWH) end of "Shine On (Parts 6-9)" where you can hear the
faint sounds of Rick playing "See Emily Play". No vocals, just a
musical homage to good ol' Syd
and the one from the BEATLES (Helter Skelter?) where Ringo or John yell out at the end "I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON FINGERS!"

Speaking of The Beatles, what about putting "Her Majesty" at the end of Abbey Road? Even though it's a great little ditty, that's gotta be one of the most unexpected jokes in rock history...
Peace.

yes - fragile
heart of the sunrise comes to its close with its 21st century schizoid man-esque riff... wait a few seconds and then a door opens and Jon shouts the bands noise as the reprise of we have heaven kicks in!

"Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl, but she doesn't have much to say" Strange ending yes indeed.
|
And Jesus said unto John, "come forth and receive eternal life..." Unfortunately, John came fifth and was stuck with a toaster.

More than that, I have always found that Genesis always had a lot to do with Food in general. Lot's of breakfast foods and stuff like that scattered throughout their songs.

John Lennon - Nutopian National Anthem/Mind Games is actually the run-off groove West Coast Pop-Art Experimental Band - Anniversary of World War III 3 and a 1/2 minutes of silence The Who - Who are You/Same Townsend shouts at Keith Moon ''Oi! I saw ya!''** (Amend:See Following Post) Fairport Convention - Si Tu Du Partir/Unhalfbricking A pile of chairs fall over which Martin Lamble was using as percussion.

That's actually Happy Jack where Townshend says that.

GENESIS - (SEBTP) on "Aisle of Plenty" where they're are naming off the prices of various items, "...for 15p" "for 24 and a half" etc...
The lyrics for Aisle of Plenty also manage to name every major UK supermarket chain at the time - Tesco, Fine Fare, Co - Op and Safeway.

i recon the chicken evolved from some creature, perhaps even a mammal that didnt come out of an egg, and then that newly evolved chicken laid an egg.
