Improper comparison. But not totally. In fact Hanoi Rocks copy, in a certain manner, the style of Roxy Music. The use of sax, for example. The songs' construction is another example.
So... Who preferred?

I agree with Hugues here. The two bands have nothing in common whatsoever. Anyway, I voted for Roxy - I'm not really into the kind of music HR (who were excellent in their own field) play.

I don't know Hanoi Rocks. I love Roxy's first two albums though. Some later stuff is good too. I went to see them in concert a few years ago. Wonderful band. But Hanoi Rocks? It's making me curious.

Saw Hanoi Rocks many times in the 1980s (and sincerely believe it was they from whom Guns 'n' Roses stole most of their chops...); never saw Roxy Music, but have most early albums... similarities between the two???
Well, both have five band members, all of whom are male, one of whom in HR occasionally uses a saxophone, one in RM is a saxophonist... you could just as well compare Hanoi Rocks to early King Crimson.

Quite a comparison indeed. I love Roxy Music so I'll vote for them. Also, Hanoi Rocks to me has always been just another bad-adequate glam rock band who never did anything I would listen from beginning to end.

I'm sorry but I must disagree - Hanoi Rocks were so much more than that; always guaranteed to entertain on stage, never took themselves seriously (unlike a certain band who copied them mercilessly) & released good blues-rock albums into the bargain.

To me HR was Glam or Hair Metal.
I think they were party buddies with the LA Glam metal Scene and especiallyt with Motley Crue.

I'm sure you're referring to the band whose singer caused HR drummer's death and their subsequent demise  ...

It was one Tommy Lee from MC who was driving the car which crashed & killed Razzle (HR's drummer/founder member) - and yes, I know he shouldn't have got into a car with a drunk driver, before anyone says.

Blimey, I forgot about Hanoi Rocks! I had several of their albums. They were awful in an excellent way..  Sorry, Mr Ferry, but my vote goes with nostalgia today. Hanoi Rocks it is!

Strange poll....but those early Roxy albums still sound great....and the later stuff still puts me to sleep, something I could never say about the Rocks!
