My friend Martin (Alucard) who is doing stellar work here in PA has added the fantastic band One Shot from France, and so I thought it's a great opportunity to mention them here (though I am sure it won't get as many replies as when Blind Guardian was added, even though they are a wonderful band).

I give you the PA Martin wrote:

One Shot was created in 1999 by keyboarder Emmanuel Borghi and guitarist James McGaw, both Ex-Magma musicians. The original duo was completed by bassist Philippe Bussonnet and drummer Daniel Jeand'heur for their first self-titled record, released in 1999.Originally only a demo tape, the record presents classic jazz-rock with strong influences by the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Their second record "Vendredi 13" was recorded live on April 13,2001 in the "Cave A Musique" in Mācon (France) and contains long instrumental compositions closer to Magma with a touch of King Crimson. In an interview the band members described their music as 'rock-jazz-progressive' with a special accent on the rock sound. In 2007 the band released their third record "Ewaz Vader" comprised of four long compositions with a harder edge, occasionally approaching metal.

:::Martin Horst:::

They appeared in the last Nearfest Friday pre-show.

I personally highly recommend getting Ewaz Vader from 2006.

Sounds like really good stuff. Yet another band to add to my list to check out. Thanks for pointing them out. Smile

Sounds cool, thanks!  I love how you can hear everything.  Did you notice, while the drumming is good, it's not so insanely loud that it crushes everything.  I love that.

So much good French stuff.  Did you hear Eclat's last album?  mmmm.

I'll give it a try. I have not listened to Magma yet so hopefully One Shot pushes me to try some Magma.

Ewaz Vader is excellent!

The opening track is simply amazing.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.
