ErmmMy absolute first (with parents' money) was Simon and Garfunkel - The Sounds of Silence. Great stuff!

Next I bought a single (45) : Sugar Sugar by the "Archies" (Tommy Jamnes & the Shondells, in reality). Sugar sweet.Embarrassed

First album with my own money was Lighthouse - One Fine Morning (Canadian brass rock that didn't age well with me, but not too bad for a kid).

After that came various rockin' CCR singles, then Beatles 67-70, then albums by the likes of the Who, Uriah Heep, Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Zep, etc.

(My older sister had tons of music, including prog, all that time.)

Then came buying PROG! (Genesis & Yes first, but rapidly expanding outward.)Smile
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

Petra- Washes Whiter Than (On tape)
The Cure-Show (on tape)
and Toto IV (Still on tape)
Ahhhhhh, with shaky hands and starry eyes, I recieved the trade off from the clerk. Those were the days.

This is the first song I remember liking. It was No. 1 when my brother was born, I'd just turned 3.

I didn't buy my first LP until I was about 13. It was Looney Tunes by Bad Manners. Next was Fly By Night by Rush and Deepest Purple...

The first single I bought was Please Don't Touch by Motorhead and Girlschool.
"The disgusting stink of a too-loud electric guitar.... Now, that's my idea of a good time."

This is embarrasing but I had to post.  It was Olivia Newton-John's "Come on Over".

Now before you beat me up too much I was also 9, and I am a female, and I'm ashamed to say- I still enjoy her version of "Jolene".

The Beatles - Rubber Soul. And it was in the 90's, not the 60's. Approve
