What do you guys think?, they certainly had a number of progressive pop numbers, eg band on the run, Admiral Halsey/Uncle Albert, Live and Let Die etc

Wings is too pop-oriented. Sorry.

Yet another attempt at putting every single classic rock band ever in the archives Thumbs%20Down

Wings isn't remotely related to prog.  Sorry.

thing is, Cheesy, at one point almost every band was influenced by what the prog artists were doing, so we have to be diligent   ..technically you're right, but I would say Wings was an extension of what Paul had been doing in the studio with the Beatles more than a direct response to Prog.. McCartney usually did his own thing and set mainstream trends in the early 70s

I love Wings to death, but like the others I just don't see it happening.

Another proposal which is not as daft as it might sound. Some of Wings material almost defines pop prog. On balance though, I really don' think there is enough such material to justify entry.
Bear in mind too that Admiral Halsey/Uncle Albert was not actually by Wings.

Both very good points. In the '70s especially, most bands were touched by prog. Even Aerosmith felt the urge on a few numbers. So, what's the point? Does adding these bands add to prog appreciation? Let's either close the door, or (as rileydog said) add every classic rock band and be done with it.

As most have already said, I think not. It's hard to distinguish between Wings and McCartney solo and then we'd end up with the Frog Song.

... but it comes from "Ram" by Paul and Linda McCartney, proabaly his most progressive album of all as it happens.

Lots of "Greatest hits" albums include tracks which strictly speaking should not be there.

My reaction was WTF, but on second thought, it's not as daft (as EL puts it), but let's face it some songs are indeed pleasant to progheads (those mentioned plus Mull Of Kintyre) and might have some slight complexity.

But Paul McCartney's Wings has never been considered as prog (hence my first reaction) and it doesn't really fit PR. I'd much rather see Journey in before Wings, even though most Wings albums are much better than Steve Perry-era Journey.
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Just because you can string 5 or 6 little tunes together to make a song does not make it progressive.
