Topic: Sabbath Bloody Led Purple. Posted: February 16 2008 at 12:07 |
Which one do you think is best. I'm a great fan of DP but In Rock has always been my least fave album from them from the 60's and 70's of course. Although I admire that album but don't like it. Although I know most of the people love that album so sure it'll have more votes but lets see.
Led Zep II for me is the best record from Zep together with I and IV. Black Sabbath's debut is my fave one. Although Paranoid and Sabath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage are really good.
I'll go sabbath's.

This poll already exists but I can't remember what I posted in the last one. Probably some nonsense.
My problem is that I just don't like hard rock, but having voyaged extensively through extreme - and extremely slow - metal, growing out of almost every band I tried, I can recognise that I favour the elements Black Sabbath inspired in metal, particularly in doom. Also I can't stand muscle vocals or Hammond solos... thankfully Sabbath were quirky enough to make their progeny appeal to me. =)

Lol I hate metal except for some poppish or well said glam. Like Whitesnake or XYZ. But not serious in that genre. Just hear them once in a month lol.

In Rock, Blackmore moved into a totally new musical direction and Ian Gillan joined for this release.
"Child in time" "Flight of the rat" "Speed King" ...great album.

In Rock. Please help me understand...as someone who grew up during the era when these albums were released...what is it about Black Sabbath that has them elevated way beyond their proper place in the order of things? No disrespect meant to those who like the band, I have enjoy many of their songs, but how they could out-poll Zep II and In Rock I don't get...

I love all three albums, but In Rock wins for me (sorry Laplace! ).
BTW, since all three bands are in PA, this should be moved to the PP/PR Lounge...

Black Sabbath is a mega-masterpiece. I'm not too fond of Zep II mostly because its got the most amount of overplayed songs by the radio and bands. In Rock is plenty great, but neither II nor Rock have the darkness, heaviness and gloriousness of BLACK SABBATH.

The riffs baby, its all about the riffs, the mighty sabbath out riff both Zep and purple toghter. And they are as heavy as both thos other 2 combined. Sure they dont got the speed but you cant have everything.

Cool, I buy that they were awesome riffmeisters and essentially 'invented' heavy metal as we know it, and yes, I originally bought at least the first three albums within weeks of their release, so I was in their target demographic at the time. Sabbath was a pretty good band doing something different -- it would take a few years before we knew just how influential it would come to be. But I never viewed them, even at the time, as in any way comparable to DP or Zep. But of course by the time of Sabbath's first release I'd already been hit over the head with ITCOTKC.

The Sab album. Led Zep II is nice but a little uneven and rather overrated. I don't like Deep Purple but the cover of In Rock is by far the best of the three.

I think Deep Purple and Black Sabbath are better than Led. I dont understand why LZ gets so much coverage they are good but I think DP and BS are 10000 times better. Much louder and to the point.
I find it much more difficult to choose between Sab and Purple. But I go for Deep Purple because they sound louder and faster and Ian Gillan was much more of a shouter than Ozz
