Come Taste the Band is a great album, way too underrated in my book, and his work with Trapeze is outstanding as well. Check "Your Love Is Alright" for a great example of funk-rock.

I could not believe how strong a release Soul Mover was. It might be the best thing he's done since Hughes/Thrall. Bringing in Chad Smith from the Chilis to anchor the rhythm section was a pretty genius move.

I'm also a big Glenn Hughes fan; a fantastic voice and he and Tommy Bolin brought a lot to the often underrated Come Taste the Band Purple album. Now I've got to go and play that now!

I have a great album by a band called Defunkt called Thermonuclear Sweat and some of the early Level 42 stuff was good before they got too poppy.

I also agree on Living Colour, a fantastic, rather underrated band. As a matter of fact, I am quite keen on funky influences in rock, especially the harder-edged variety. I really dig many of the acts that have been mentioned so far... Anyway, I'd like to add another favourite of mine to the list - New York icons Talking Heads. Their "Crosseyed and Painless" is probably my favourite tune to dance to!

Trapeze's Medusa is not really my Trapeze album I really like cause they have some more heavy samples like Jury. Although Black Cloud, Love is Alright, Makes you wanna Cry and Touch my Life are great. I really adore You are the Music and We're just the Band. That's really funky with great hard rock songs very Purple stylish.
