Rivertree, thanks!!!

You kinda caught me off guard because the latest music hasn't been uploaded to myspace yet; and the www.novusrex.net website is not up yet. However, I REALLY appreciate you starting a thread for the project. You're very kind. Clap

The two pieces that are up on myspace are old and VERY POORLY mixed(the version that's up there for the instrumental piece is even truncated and is missing the bass track. lol). So please don't make any judgments based on those samples. Dead  They were thrown up there in haste; just to have something for testing the media player.

I'm currently working in the studio on the latest song and once that's done I'll mix three(or maybe four) pieces and throw them up on myspace. But, those WILL be mixed properly.

Thanks,
JR

I'm liking Novus Rex, it's very keyboard heavy but pulled off very well.  Great use of the organ and piano and all, it makes a very big, full sound.  My only advice would be that I thought that there was too much reverb going on, mainly in the drums (in the first and third song), and it made the songs a little bit too busy, but other than the the ideas and music are great.

Hi asimplemistake, thanks for checking out the music.

You are completely right! Those two pieces have too much reverb. I knew that when I mixed them, but wanted to try a few variations and that's what I ended up with on the last try. I have a couple of drier mixes, but they have an IN YOUR FACE sound that I really don't want. It's challenging to get a fat, symphonic sound without going overboard with some of the reverb layers. But I'm still a ways away from releasing the CD so I still have time to redo the mixes.

Thanks for listening and keep tuned for more music!
