Another vote for Phallus Dei. Or Can's 'Monster Movie'. Not 'prog' but either Cages 'HPSCHD', A Rainbow In Curved Air, or 'Hymnen'. JC monkey balls I'm indecisive.

I add my voice to Phalus dei !
 
Though I  love Moonchild including the atmospheric 10 last minutes and I think ITCOTCK is a great debut it suffers sometimes from taking itself too seriously (I blame Greg Lake for that).
Can is a great band but it's debut isn't it's highest moment while Phalus dei is a peak in Amon duul II discography IMO.
 
Other honorable mentions : In search of the lost chord, The soft machine, Valentine suite and Space oddity (it is not defined as prog here but I claim different).
