NIN's The Downward Spiral is a damn masterpiece. The only other album from that list that might have overridden NIN for me was Talk Talk.

True - and Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are the reason why.
I voted for Felt Mountain - excellent album and great use of a theremin.

"Prog-related" IMO. But whatever. It's still awesome. |

that was a tough question... until I noticed an album near the very bottom.... how can you not vote for it. It will be listened to for as long as future generations listen to music...

There's not much there which I've heard, but Talk Talk are always top notch.
The Miles is an essential classic, of course.
I just bought that Jeff Buckley CD yesterday. I'm getting into it, but it's a lot rockier than I expected -- I thought Buckley was more folk, for some reason.
My wife was very sad to hear that he'd committed suicide. Edited by Peter - June 08 2008 at 11:48 |

I knew that the Kind of Blue was the more important album artistically (but is it really?)
I had to vote for Dopethrone. I just love how those guys go deeper into Sabbathland than Iommi ever did even. You just have to keep listening to find out how much father into despair they can go.
Oh - and I too consider the Talk Talk album prog enough not to count.

Buckley's death was accidental, and it was proven he had not taken any illegal drugs prior to swimming in the Wolf River Harbor. |

Accounts also say that he was in good spirits before when he went for his midnight swim.
Tim Buckley was the folkie.

Well they are my favourites and that's all that matters to me... Although Third, A Love Supreme and In a Silent Way are equally awesome, just not my favourites if I had to choose. Edited by Novalis - June 08 2008 at 19:09 |

I find it pretty funny how Electric wizard actually has a considerable amount of votes, I didnt know we had very many stoner doom fans.

I'd have to opt for Miles which has stood the test of time, though as said before it isn't his best. Soundgarden, Buckley, Coltrane are also excellent.
