I just wanted to add my appreciation – albeit based on very little (so far).
At the beginning of the week I placed a massive order for prog CDs (that's what comes of being off work and having too much time on your hands
), one of which was Morte Macabre's
Symphonic Holocaust, being partial to Anekdoten and 'tron. When it arrived I had it on repeat for pretty much the whole of the day.
I was intrigued that one of the tracks (
Quiet Drops, which I like) was credited not to a person but to Goblin, as well as them being mentioned in the liner notes, so investigated further. I was absolutely stunned by the two tracks here on the Archives, in particular the eponymous track
from
Roller.
So I ended up placing another order. I've yet to receive the other three albums, but
Roller arrived today and I was not disappointed. Although
Goblin stands out, probably because I know it better having heard it (repeatedly, sorry for using your bandwidth
) here on PA, the whole album is consistently good. I just hope that the soundtrack albums live up to my experience of this studio album, I hope to find out soon.
I love the synth work – I would have guessed it as ARP, but there isn't one credited. I notice there's both Moog and Minimoog listed, so maybe Moog refers to a Moog modular of some sort. I love the nod to John Wetton's bass work as well, in the track
Dr Frankenstein. I wonder whether the piano intro to
Goblin is inspired by that other classic horror piano intro (not that I'm into horror films)
Tubular Bells.
The internet's brilliant, but the agonising wait for things to be delivered by snail mail kills me
Edited: cos me smilies din't work
