Well, I don't think giant images would look that great next to every post either

It looks a bit like the cover of Danzig's first album.

Well of course - I never intended to use it as such. A 120x120 pixels limitation would be just fine Smile

I know that hosting larger avatars would mean more server space is needed - but would it need that much space?

My current 64X64 pixels avatar "weighs" 3,64 KB. At 120x120 pixels, my avatar should weigh 8,83 KB (5,19 KB more).

Assuming ALL PA user would have avatars, allowing 120x120 pixels for everybody would mean an increase of needed server space with 109,1 MB. That's actually very little (and unexpensive). And of course out of those 21527 members very few of them have avatars - most of them aren't even really active.

Or maybe this limitation comes from the forum software - but I don't think that would be a problem to a webmaster such as M@x Wink

You could try to bring this up in the "improvements/suggestions" forum, personally I don't mind the small size, but other people might consider the change.

My newest avatar is... what I actually look like. No, I'm not a robotic insect as my handle suggests, and I'm not some kind of alien either. At least not as far as I know.

Because I am determined to have a creepier avatar than birdwithteeth, I have dragged out poor ol' Grey-O into the fight. Cool

Took me over 3 years but I finally felt the need for a change.
