Brain Salad Surgery has what every ELP record does- mindless filler.

^ While I agree there is some dross/filler on BSS, the reality is that 75% of this album is the epitome of all that is great in prog. It's an awesome slab of brilliance, and I therefore overlook the throwaway songs. Having said that, it's still very difficult to split these 2 masterpieces, I'd need both on my desert island.

aye ye aye... when will it end....
love BSS... however if ELP had made a double album of the musical and instrumental firepower of Toccata... it might be close. Carl Palmer's drumming being the only thing that BSS has over TFTO in my mind... some of the best prog drumming ever put on vinyl.
TFTO...

Both difficult albums, but at least BSS is short and (kind of) to-the-point.. and it doesn't make me want to sleep... And it's lyrics are somewhat human... So BSS by a mile.... The only thing TFTO has over BSS is a better cover...

Just about any album would be Tales... so BSS. At least I can sit through it (not that I ever want to).

Brain Salad - Tales are not the best Yes album, whereas Brain Salad is an outstanding prog classic

Tales again for me.When I first listened to ELP I found it great but 2 or 3 months later I was no longer
interested in playing their records. They're very good musicians but I didn't get into their universe. On the
contrary Yes'style is all on accord with my dreams, mind and world.

Tales by miles! Disc 1 is a classic, one of Yes's best albums(CD's). While Disc 2 is quite as messy as the whole BSS, it has Nous Sommes Du Soleil which has one of the best bass playing I've ever heard(now comes a joke from someone). BSS has Karn Evil 9 1st Impression, which is quite extravagant and head aching at times, but I must admit Keith playing is AMAZING. Though the rest meh and somewhat awful except the catchty Still you Turn Me On, which I love

BSS from preference. Tales from objectivity, methinks. Not a lot of songwriting involved in Tales, and Still... You Turn Me On is simply perfect.

BSS. If you got to see this tour Emerson's modular moog sprouted wings. Rotating drum sets, grand pianos spining in midair. Those that missed ELP @ Cal Jam missed a show of ages.

This is very tough for me. I went with Brain Salad Surgery since it had less votes only.
