Just picked up MOON SAFARI -- Blomljud

Have listened to it two or three times. Harmonies are outstanding, but not quite meeting my expectations. Purely a personal take. The album is technically brilliant and very interesting, I'm just not a diehard fan of this sound.

Bushman's Revenge - Jazz, Fritt Etter Hukommelsen
What do you guys think of it? Although initially a bit disappointed with it, for not being as hard hitting as the rest of their output, I'm quickly coming to grips with it and have started accepting it for what it is, a nice little jazz album. Smile

Recommend checking out their live album Bushman's Fire if you get the opportunity. An entirely different beast, probably destined to be my album of the year. Was in attendance when they recorded it, the most ferocious live performance I've ever experienced. Accompanied by Kjetil Møster on sax and David Wallumrød on organ, they were literally on fire that night, and that translates well to record.

Excellent fusion album, already love it to bits, and I'm definitely going to order Bushman's Fire when I get the chance. Thumbs Up

Hi Audun
Damn it's been a while. Hope you're doing good my friend. Still walking in those mountains of your's from time to time? I still fantasise about living close to a mountain of my own that I can visit any time I like. Maybe it's because I live in Denmark eh? Seriously whenever I travel and see mountains my vacation instantly gets vastly more exciting.
Yeah erm...Bushman's Revenge? Great jazz album. I really dig the almost tinkling feel of the cymbals. Makes it all dreamy and rather soothing to the ears.
Thanks for the rec btw! Duly noted good sir.
Hi, Dave. Yeah, it's been a while. I'm fine, thanks for asking. Working and listening to good music is what my days consists of mostly, as always. Smile How are you? I read in another thread you lost 25 kilos or something? Good job, mate! Clap I've put on about 20 myself the last year. Unhappy Really have to get back on track with diet and exercise...but I think I'll wait till after new years. Wink LOL

Haven't done as much hiking as I would've liked the last year, but I did Besseggen with my dad and my sister's boyfriend during my summer vacation (I would've shared some pics, but my old computer's not cooperating and is in dire need of replacement, so I'm not able to atm). It was really neat though, and tough. We did it in about 7.5 hrs, and there was especially one part where I, as someone not particularly fond of heights, really struggled, but I got through it. Me and my dad decided we would do Galdhøpiggen again next summer though, not as exhausting. LOL

Anyway, bought:

Gorguts - Pleiades' Dust
King Crimson - Beat
King Crimson - Three of a Perfect Pair
Nirvana - Nevermind
Nirvana - In Utero
Noxagt - s/t

Ordered:

King Crimson - Level Five
King Crimson - The Elements (2014 Tour Box)
Stick Men - Prog Noir
Vespero - Lique Mekwas
Vespero - Azmari: Abyssinian Liventure

Received:

Aluk Todolo - Voix
Burzum - Hvis lyset tar oss
Burzum - Filosofem
Enslaved - Monumension
Enslaved - Below the Lights
Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini
Meshuggah - The Violent Sleep of Reason
Damn mountaineersOuch!!!EmbarrassedEmbarrassedEmbarrassedEmbarrassed Yup I'm jealous.
Oh and I know about losing a great deal weight only to put on a good chunk again...sooo irritating. But sure I agree - better to wait for the new year to come round - when everyone else suddenly catch a jolt of healthy livingLOL
Anyway if it's any consolation I'd trade places with you in a heartbeat. Haven't been able to move properly since February due to a pinched nerve in my hip going all the way down my leg. No sensation/control whatsoever which effectively means that I've been walking around like some mad take on Ministry Of Silly Walks. It has since then morphed into a pinched nerve in my shoulder(s) -meaning no weight-training or babythrowing for me.
Btw are you on a black metal trip atm? Sure seems like it! Love that new Aluk Todolo album even if it doesn't quite reach the heights of it's predecessor Occult Rock.
Cheerio comrade - feel the beard.
Yeah, I've been meaning to dig deeper into Norway's biggest underground music scene (or perhaps what was the biggest, the jazz scene seems to have been going really strong for some years now) for a while, more than just scratching the surface with Enslaved.

Excited to hear the new Aluk Todolo, haven't listened to them before.

Pinched nerves, that doesn't sound good. Get well soon, Bamsen.

^1990 was one of the best years for thrash metal in my book. Rust in Peace, Anthrax's Persistence of Time, Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss, Kreator's Coma of Souls, Pantera's Cowboys From Hell, Testament's Souls of Black, etc. So much great stuff released (and the debut Meshuggah only a year later Wink).

If you're wanting to check out some more metal, here are a few thrash albums on the more technical side that I personally love. I'm sure you'll enjoy Toxik if you love the debut Meshuggah album. Let me know what you think. Smile

Toxik - Think This - Shotgun Logic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfWppynI6f4
Artillery - By Inheritance - Khomaniac: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGgU5ANihYs
Forbidden - Twisted Into Form - Step By Step: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eF0gc9wN1FQ

^ Wow - Megalomania !! Haven't heard the cover. I actually only had At War.....as a much degraded, murky taping back around 1987, and a proper tape of Calm Before The Storm - I was totally blown away with AWWS, being a full 20 minute piece, but I went the Floyd, Genesis, Yes and Crimso way and, bar Iron Maiden, didn't 'do' much Metal. Boy have I missed out on some FANTASTIC stuff.
Rust In Peace is a knock-out album. Megadeth always struck me as a Poor-Man's Metallica, but I guess I'm allowed to be wrong sometimes. They better than Metallica. Hetfield and Co. didn't deserve Mustaine. He was too good for them

Despite being one of the albums without Cronos, Prime Evil has always been my favorite Venom album. Have you heard their cover of Sabbath's Megalomania? I think it's one cover that I actually prefer to the original.
