Listen to the 7 minute "Be Free" (off Mother Lode) with its multi sectioned structure, extended instrumental, and delicate musical orchestration. These guys are not progressive rock but I have always heard a progressive edge to them. What do you think?

not far fetched at all...  but again...  so much stuff falls under the related category.. don't see the sense of adding if there isn't a strong tie to prog rock to justify an inclusion.  Musically though..  yeah..  can definitely fit in related.. but that is the problem..  SO many groups can.

While many of their songs went off on controlled tangents into progland from time to time, there's just too much country and western for me to consider them on this site.  Messina, however, may be the most overlooked electric guitarist of all time in the world of rock and roll.
