Mr.Akerfeldt from OPETH is singing on one track called "Stockholm".He wrote the lyrics for this song as well. It's already recorded. He was approached by Jim Matheos some time ago about participating on the new album, and since he's a fan of the band he obliged. With Gavin Harrison playing the drums on this one,i can't wait !

I'm drooling! I wasn't too crazy about Free but the debut was outstanding. Who is playing bass this time? I really liked Malone's fretless sound on the first.

I think Jim Matheos is playing lead guitar and bass.So i don't know how prominant those bass lines are going to be. Check out Gordion Knot as well for some excellent Malone chapman stick.

Saw Opeth in Kansas City last Tuesday. Still pumped. Great show it was, plus I was fortunate to get my pic with Akerfeldt.!!! Can't wait for this release.

From http://www.dprp.net/news/index.php
OSI: Mikael Åkerfeldt confirms on his MySpace site that he has recorded vocals for OSI ... I just wanted to confirm I have recorded vocals
for a track due to be included on the forthcoming OSI record, as of yet
untitled. I was approached by Jim Matheos about the matter some time
ago, and since I'm a fan of OSI I said "Sure"! It's a very moody song
and completely unlike anything I've ever done before. I wrote the
lyrics and the vocal lines for the piece that I simply decided to call
"Stockholm". Don't know when it's going to be released, but it's coming
out through Inside Out/SPV anyways...
OSI (Office of strategic influence) is a project led by Jim Matheos
(Fates Warning) and Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, ex Dream Theater).

I have to admit that I am not a fan of Akerfeldt or Opeth for that matter (Though I seem to be the only one in the world who thinks like that these days ) but this addition to OSI might be very interesting! (Especially considering that the OSI guys have their way with guest vocalists as shown on the song Shutdown with Steven Wilson on the first album for example)
I'll definately want to hear it when it's out! |
