The following bands are on my iTunes but not in ProgArchives. Which (if any) need to be added?

After The Fire
Air
Al-Basim
The Albion Band
America
Antimatter
Assemblea Musicale Teatrale
The Buzzcocks
The Chemical Brothers
CMX
Coil
Daft Punk
Dark Tranquility
Dinosaur Jr
Dio
Dire Straits
El Tarro De Mostaza
Etna
Faithless
Firewind
Gamma Leonis
Gang Of Four
Joe Satriani
John Frusciante
Kornet
Lana Lane
Leo Nero
Maria
Massive Attack
Michael Harris
Morcheeba
Muck Groh
My Dying Bride
Neil Young
Nigel Mazlyn Jones
Nirvana
Oui 3
Ozzy Osbourne
Planet P Project
Portishead
Preghiera Di Sasso
Propaganda
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Redemption
Royksopp
Scissor Sisters
The Shiver
Sol Invictus
Squeeze
Starless
Stereo MCs
The Stranglers
Terry Hall
The The
Thin Lizzy
U2
US3
The Vampires Of Dartmoore
Wolfstone
Yume Bitsu
Yuzo Iwata
Zero 7
ZZ Top

Whereas quite a lot (most) obviously don't, I think there are at least 10 bands there that might need to be added - anyone recognise any of the above that might merit consideration?

Don't know a lot of them, but the green ones would definitly be a thumbs up from me. Blues would require some deep thinking.

OK, of those I know, Satriani has been discussed numerous times, but the jury is still out on him. My Dying Bride were added and removed some time ago. The likes of Dire Straits, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio and Portishead have also been suggested and discussed in the past. As for the Stranglers, they have been very recently evaluated and rejected by the Xover team.

Now narrowed down to those I think might at least merit discussion (acknowledging the last e-mail that some already have).

Assemblea musicale teatrale. Neil Young, I love him but it'd take us too far. U2 is the negation of progrork (8at leatts in the last 25 years). Etna is there (see Flea).

Agree re Neil Young and U2.

Assemblea should be here I think (I might propose). Wondered why I couldn't find Etna! Am giving it a spin now. Smile

El Tarro De Mostaza - El Tarro De Mostaza (1970)

'this wonderful, dreamy, organ drenched gem from early '70s Mexico. Like the Doors at their most ethereal, with a near sidelong track opening the album, as well as some vicious fuzz in spots, and shorter songs on side two'

Side one is great - you can hear The Doors, a little bit of early Tangerine Dream at times, some of the better bits of Iron Butterfly........sounds good prog to me guys!

This should all be discussed in the Suggest New Bands section.
Squeeze and The Scissor Sisters? I think not.

agree...i would not call them prog

Among others if you mean Nirvana from UK, the 70s band that released Local Anaesthetic, they are already here
About Leo Nero, i remember i personally voted no for his inclusion.

Air is great, Iīve been thinking about suggesting them myself. Lots of vintage keyboards and retro soundscapes. Just listen to the first song on Moon Safari. And Donīt think there isnīt more to Air than Sexy Boy and the rest of the generally commercial songs that they have on their myspace. Listen to the Virgin Suicides soundtrack. Thatīs prog guys.

I didn't intend to sound as if I were suggesting all those bands should be considered for inclusion, as I stated some are clearly not prog. The list was just meant to stimulate some debate and bring some bands to the forefront of people's minds.Smile

Hopefully, we might get a couple more 'deserving' bands added, and some people will discover a new band or two.

^ I understand the reasons and purpose of your list Chris. However, this is in danger of diverting attention from the more deserving bands towards the more obviously contentious (and dare I say not-a-hope-in-hell)bands.

Why did you take out Frusciante from the list? He's doomed to be here sooner or later.
