I got this idea from a post earlier , but here are some other great modern bands, pick your band of choice.

wow... with the exception of Pelican and Isis, the above bands are really far removed; you listen to them with very different intentions. of those two i'd pick Isis, but between Isis, Sigur Ros, and Kayo Dot i abstain... they're all amazing at what they do.

Sigur is the best! Each album is quite different. Each album brings a different kind of warm, fuzzy feeling to me. Even the bootlegs of their concerts are magical. I could listen to them all day long.

I'd murder everyone in those other bands if it was necessary for me to listen to Kayo Dot.

This, is one ridiculously hard poll for me, between Kayo Dot, Isis and Pelican (less of a Sigur Ros fan). If only because I've been listening to them the most of the 3 lately, Pelican, otherwise all 3 bands are pretty much equal for me.

1. Kayo Dot 2. Pelican 3. Isis 4. Sigur Ros
Kayo Dot is far ahead of the other three. Not saying that I don't like Pelican and Isis because I really do. Just that Kayo Dot is incredibly good (actually like Maudlin of the Well a little better).

Oh god, this is horrible. Now I'm listening to Isis more and wanted to vote for them instead, but I can't now

I decided to vote Pelican, cause I dont think any of these bands have made any songs as solid as Last day of winter, Red ran amber, March into the sea, Drought, Angel tears, Autumn into summer, or Pulse.

I know, usually it's an overkill when Isis is in any post rock or experimental metal poll. In the absence of truth was too much of a disapointment, and bumped this group to the bottom of the four that are on this list... and they still kick ass!

gaddam, you guys sure come up with some zanny vs threads,
I'll go with Sigur - beyond being the most consistently appealing to my ears, they touch me emotionally in ways very few other bands can

It was definitely different, and probably not what Isis fans were expecting/ready for, but I think it's fantastic.
