from wikipedia:
Crack the Skye is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Mastodon, scheduled to be released in early 2009 through Reprise Records. It will feature seven tracks and run at approximately 50 minutes.[1][2][3] Drummer Brann Dailor described the album as more “focussed” [4] than its predecessor, Blood Mountain: “Maybe there was a deeper heart to this record that needed more exploring… We got more involved with feeling the vibe of the record and everything feels more creepy and spaced out and something special is going on.” [5] Dailor said the record would tell a story dealing variously with the art aesthetics of Tsarist Russia, astral travel, out of body experiences and Stephen Hawking's theories on wormholes. Definitely good news. Something to look forward to. Mastodon not only has not disappointed us yet, but they keep getting better.
Is it the "wind album"? |

I support the idea, but not the name.
Although I've never seriously listened to them.

Same here I can't remember how long it was that i read a bulletin on their Myspace about them writing new music. I'm glad to see we'll finally be hearing some new goodness soon. Thanks for the update sean! Edited by Dominic - November 15 2008 at 13:42 |

Good god I love Mastodon, I cant wait for this.
Just a shame they didn't play any new material when They played in Wolverhampton a few weeks ago. Hell of a band, this album will doubtlessly be excellent. |

You can actually listen to the whole album in their Myspace site.
It seems they have gone softer than their last albums... |
