These two bands released albums this year which have similar sound and qualities - zeuhl-ish elements embedded in an avant-rock entourage, eerie and horror-movie-like atmosphere.
Again, like my other poll-threads, not really a poll, more of a way to introduce and get exposure for these fine bands. Listen to at: Combat Astronomy: http://www.myspace.com/combatastronomy2 Red Masque: www.theredmasque.com www.myspace.com/myredmasque |

Zeuhl fans should be all over this, as are experimental/avant-rock listeners.

Got a reply from Jamie from Combat Astronomy and he mentions their next releases in 2009.
" Assaf, Thank you very much for spreading the word and reacting so enthusiastically to our latest release. Word of mouth is a very important way we gain new listeners. There should be at least another disc out in 2009, I'm working on the next two albums. yours, Jamie " So, more to look forward to next year. |

I need both of these. I see a Wayside order coming on in the New Year.

This is mainly for bumping purposes.
Haven't heard either album, but I have heard previous albums by both bands, and I prefer Combat Astronomy.
Probably will pick up their new one eventually.

haven't heard Combat Astronomy yet, but Friede and I are big fans of The Red Masque, who are the only newer band we know that managed to keep the spirit of "anything goes" of the late 60s and 70s withoutn sounding dated at all

Please give Combat Astronomy a listen (I posted the link to their Myspace in the first post); dark, haunting, heavy, eerie and appealing. |

FYI
I found out our last two albums (including Fossil Eyes) are on the Rhapsody music service for paid downloads. However, you can stream the whole album for free if you are curious as to what the album sounds like...... http://mp3.rhapsody.com/the-red-masque/fossileyes |

I am listening to Combat Astronomy right now and I must say that the BASS is incredible! There are some exciting videos on youtube of them performing live too.
