ok, another electronic music poll, but still very proggy, i think
i',m not very fond of kraftwerk... i think Jarre is waaay better, Kraftwerk is too robotic, too thin, too... "dance/trance"

I agree with "the icon of sin",early kraftwerk including Organisation beats out anything Jarre did later.Mind you early Kraftwerk had more in common with Krautrock then electronica.

Aye, it does. But is this poll just about the electronica sides of the musicians, or one spanning whole careers? I'm not sure. I probably prefer Jarre's "Oxygene" to "Man Machine" or "Trans-Europe Express", but Kraftwerk are so much more than those albums.

Kraftwerk...
Although Jarre's first few albums were ofvery high class, he's not making great music anymore... In contrast, Kraftwerk remained genial throughout their whole career. |

I really like both to be honest.
By Jarre, my faves are:-
Oxygene
Equinoxe
Waiting For Cousteau (ambient classic)
Zoolook
Magnetic Fields
By Kraftwerk I prefer:-
TEE
Computer World
Autobahn
Overall, I prefer Jarre and I vote for him.

I prefer Jarre. Equinoxe is one of the best works of electronic music as far as I'm concerned.

I've only heard one Jarre song and that was "Oxygene IV" which was very good. Kraftwerk is great both on record and live (I'd like to see them in concert if they ever come to Philadelphia). "Autobahn" and "Trans-Europa Express" are excellent albums.

If a French tells you to forget about Jarre and to concentrate on Kraftwerk's music, would you listen to him?
Of course, you would do. |

Jarre. Oxygène (especially parts I and II) is as excellent as a TD or Klaus Schulze album. Most of Kraftwerks Fröbelwerke never appealed to me, although they may have done some groundbreaking things in their days.

It's got to be Ralf und Florian for me (except it's now Ralf + 3 robots).
JMJ released a couple of good albums early on, but Kraftwerk have maintained a high standard pretty much from the outset.

Jarre for more 'higher quality' output, but I like both.

Jarre by some way.
Nothing by Kraftwerk does much for me and Oxygene and Equinoxe are magnificent. I saw him live on TV once and was entranced. |

Like Jarre a lot more. It's just that Jarre's early albums were introduced to me at school so many years ago and still very fond of those albums.Magnetic fields is the one album I need to replace. It was always my favourite jarre album. |

Jarre by far. Kraftwerk tends to REALLY get on my nerves through repetetiveness.
As for the poll: Add Michael Rother, and things might get interesting?
