The following quote taken from the official website:

Quote
There's no need to search for JACK DUPON in the civil registration, because this legendary character doesn't exist ! We're talking of a young French band here, made of four crazy people, phlegmatic adventurers of the Imaginary. Improvisers and storytellers. Polite and rude. Full of oppositions, contradictions… In one word : Alive. Their music is like their existences : out of styles and boundaries. Far away from the usual technical show-off, their performances tell the story of the crazy JACK DUPON : Manitou and Mentor, Big Brother, a genius criminal of a thousand masks…

Published on the Gazul label in the year 2008, "L'Echelle Du Désir" explores the vast landscapes of Progressive rock, experimental and psychedelic. Sometimes reminding a kind of modern ETRON FOU LELOUBLAN, this music may also be related with SEBKHA-CHOTT's, or KING CRIMSON's electric dissonances. GONG also comes in mind, especially when having a look at the booklet, probably designed by some kind of flying teapot !

JACK DUPON is all but consensual, for our own pleasure...

...

Jack Dupon is a progressive rock band consisting of two guitars, drums, bass, percussion and singing.

The music is almost impossible to describe, but Jack Dupon performs a delirious music, full of humor and rhythm, dynamic, giving free way to the imagination ...

Jack Dupon is primarily a live band communicating a lot through music but also by their personal universe really existing at performances. This adds a higher human dimension, which is mostly felt by the public. An opportunity then appears : let experimental music emerge from the shadow, in order to discover a new landscape remaining accessible to everyone. And this perhaps corresponds to an expectation, even a desire to offer an alternative to formatted music.

The creation of pieces is made in a scientific-empirical manner : Compositions take shape from topics brought by the one or other one, or of complete improvisations recorded and revised in the studio. Songs are often long and explored, their structures are progressive and living as the bed of a river. All this performed with amazing precision.
Painted with comfortable, tense, brutal or violent atmospheres that can stretch or stand out, decompose themselves and rebirth in a bouncing movement.

The instrumental instants are punctuated with vocal interventions. Singing is then considered to be a rhythmic or lyric element, such the fifth instrument. Sometimes distant, sometimes audible, resembling the bubbles of a comic strip. In the purest oratory respect of oral transmission of tales and legends, the group includes gradually voice and singing in the compositions.

Influences : Zappa, Phish, Morphine, King Crimson, Caravan, Primus, Frog Brigad....

Although Avant was my first choice, I put this artist to Eclectic as a secondary-choice since I felt it had some Eclectic merit as well.  It was unanimously decided that Avant is the better fit.

I like these guys for Avant as well.  Hopefully we'll get a consensus soon.

Hello all of you,

We are the members of Jack Dupon, and we just discovered this discussion.
Nice to meet you and talk about music !
Actually, our english is a little poor, and the english text on our site could be better written.
Could anyone help us with that ?
By the way, we got the first article in english, about the album 'L'Echelle du Desir".

You can see it here :http://www.silverdb.com/PGRelease.asp?RID=28157

Welcome.  I could help when I have time (I like what you've written, though, even though it could be improved) though it might help if you worked with someone whose French is much better than mine.

Actually, I haven't got around to adding your band to this site yet  I like to write an original (though researched) biography for a band with my personal impressions of the music, but these days writing and me do not mix well (and I have a lack of time and ability to focus on it these days).  Would you mind if I used your words, giving proper credit and with some changes and additions for the Prog Archives bandpage biography?  I'd like to have your permission to reprint much of what you wrote.

We are so glad you like what we have written.
It's a little hard to express this kind of stuff in a foreign language.
And of course you can use anything you like from it, and re-write and improove it and give your own opinion..
And it would be great to get included in the bandpages.
Oh, and we didn't know ourselves what description to give to the music we make, so from now on, with your permission we can say it's avant-prog/RIO.

Big Salutations, and hope to read you soon again...

Absolutely, and thank you.  I really enjoyed the music I heard of yours, and the band certainly deserves exposure.  I'm so glad you found this topic and posted.

LOL You won't find many that match that description in the state of Canuckistan, but to make it easier for the feeble royal postman, I've responded to your PM with the full address (had to rush out before).  Thanks again.

EDIT: I'd hoped to a couple of nights ago, but a lot of things going on, but I'm planning to add the band to PA tonight, or by tomorrow night at the latest.

Hi there,

Well, we just got the time to read your text on ..
Thank's for the corrections, it looks a lot better this way...
Could we modify our own biography with these "améliorations" ?

Bonne journée, Jack Dupon

Absolutely, and by the way, I think I neglected to thank you before for the CD.  It's very good, and I do hope to review it ere too long.  At the moment I'm preparing for a trip to East Asia for about a month, so it probably won't be for a while (perhaps while I'm there).
