Interestingly all these orgasms so far are FEMALE orgasms. Are there no male orgasms out there? Not that I, being a lesbian, would be too hot on hearing them Wink, but I just wonder. It probably has to do with the fact that female orgasms are a lot longer and often multiple.

Historically, in poetry, orgasm and death are sometimes one and the same. I still don't really know why, though

That's interesting. Do you know any good examples of orgasmic death poems?

I can only think of it being hinted at in poems...I studied John Donne recently at school, so one example would be in his poem The Canonization in which he says "we die and rise the same". It both refers to the previous phoenix metaphor and suggests, put plainly, that they have sex all the time. That's one interpretation, anyway LOL

while I love The Torture Never Stops I've always considered The Great Gig In The Sky to be the weakest song on Floyd's best album.  I suppose I'm starting to warm up to it as it doesn't really annoy me anymore but still FZ is the pick.

Time always wins.

Yes. Girls enjoy more ! That's a fact.
And thinking about it a little, I guess male voices at extatic moments sounds quite bizarre and grotesque so we better stick to female voices.

rafaela,

I am allmost sure "la petite morte" is sleeping and not having an orgasm.

By the way I still can't get used to your name change. For me you will allways be ghost rider.

I can confirm that "la petite mort" refers to the orgasm.

Great Gig every time - a timeless classic, although, with other posters, I never really associated it with this.

I am struggling to think of any male orgasms, aside from Plant on Led Zep II, although that's not really prog. Gabriel on The Blood of Eden, maybe?EmbarrassedConfused

I think they are both horrible, so are the rest of the suggestions. Here's another embarrassing hippie groupsex track by the brilliant White Noise - My Game of Loving:

I do like many of these 60's-70's soft porn soundtracks, where you hear a little sigh now and then, but no loud orgasm screams. Like this one: Sophisticated Shake. A nice little dance and outfit (that she elegantly removes) too.
Over land and under ashes
In the sunlight, see - it flashes
Find a fly and eat his eye
But don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
Don't believe in me

I'm sure my IPod had no idea it would generate such discussion when, while on shuffle, it just happened to put the two songs in the poll back-to-back, thus bringing up the whole idea for me.

How about the part of 'Ritual' on Yesshows that precedes 'Nous Somme du Soleil'? I don't know whether to "credit" Squire or Moraz . . .

I think The Great Gig In The Sky is a stunning piece of music.  The lady vocalist, Claire Torrey, was asked by Floyd to "sing what you feel" and she said it was one of the most difficult things she'd ever done.  I'm afraid I've never heard The Torture Never Stops, but I'm guessing from the title that it's not actually an orgasm!LOL!

How about a fun track from Aphrodite's Child's 666? Infinity. I'd pick that one... really adds a level or two to "orgasmic"
