Ciao!

My name is Luca, I'm 18 years old and I come from Empoli, a town near Firenze
(home of Campo Di Marte, does it ring a bell?) Wink

I  was introduced to prog via Pink Floyd albums (I especially like their 67-73 period), then at the age of 15 I discovered Mirage by Camel and I was immediately impressed (at first listen, a very rare thing for me)

These days, I prefer dynamic, dramatic bands with a misterious sound. I love vintage keyboards.
Especially from the 70's, but I also like albums by contemporary italian bands. I think they've got a enique flavour.

Among my favorites :

IL BACIO DELLA MEDUSA (The best discovery of the year so far)
T2
HIGH TIDE
MUSEO ROSENBACH
CRESSIDA
ANGLAGARD ( sorry but don't have nordic characters on my keyboard lol Embarrassed)
QUELLA VECCHIA LOCANDA
BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO

Since in real life very few of my friends show interest in this niche, I'm here to discuss about prog, obscure or not :)

Ciao Luca, benvenuto su ProgArchivesSmile!
(Translation: Hi Luca, welcome to PA!)

I was born in Rome, but now live in the US, and for a number of years lived in Siena - so I know Tuscany very well. We have a wonderful thread here dedicated to Italian progressive rock.... But I'm sure someone else will direct you to it soonWink.

Enjoy the forums!

Welcome!!! You're gonna have a great time, if that's your objective! haha

2 of the bands listed, ring me a bell from the Heavy Prog sub-genre, make sure to check there, for more! hehe

For the Italians Symphonic, Micky, Raff, and some others will come to help ya, haha

Il Bacio Della Medusa is my best discovery of the year so far too, and it's thanks to this site.

Welcome aboard, I'm sure you'll love it.

Ciao Luca, benvenuto!

I'm one of the huge Italian prog fans around here.  Please visit my myspace page dedicated to Italian music past and present:  http://www.myspace.com/italianprog    If you have your own myspace page be sure to req me!

There you will find plenty of friends and bands, interviews, and reviews.  At this site, visit our "All prog from Italy appreciation" thread under the genre section of the forum, 2nd from top I believe.  And of course we have a wealth of reviews here to help you find music.

Also one of the best resources for vintage Italian information is www.italianprog.com

Your taste is great, I also love Floyd, BDM, and QVL!!  Let us know if you get to see any good shows over there.

And welcome again, we look forward to seeing you around the placeSmile
