Tougher than a particularly tough tough thing, but I think 5 Suns just about comes in 1st for me - Black Oni is more compositionally sophisticated and Elixirs opens up and explores the possibilites suggested by the previous 2 albums in a remarkable way, but nothing quite matches the raw excitement of 5 Suns in all its savage glory.

In my opinion, the "Black Suns" album bears the most accomplished sets of tense passages and eerie moments, while being equally sinister to the other two. In this way, the variety of moods happens to be more robust.
Kind regards.

The whole trilogy is excellent, but Black Oni is my overall favorite. I especially like it's apocalyptic post-Zeuhl sound, and the dark overall atmosphere of the album.

Five Suns. I find that and Black Oni to be flawless.
Elixirs is great too, but I'd rather the instumental versions of The Heliotrope and The Selenotrope (from the Twisted Stems EP) was on album instead of the ones with vocal. |

Five Suns.
All are excellent though. Can't wait for their new one.

Black Oni
Not a huge fan of the band though, never differentiated themselves enough to my ears. |

Yeah, the Mothlite album is also fantastic. Great atmosphere! By the way, there are two new preview tracks on their myspace: myspace.com/mothlite. Although a bit more 'poppy' (not necessarily a bad thing), I think they sound promising. Yes, I've got Towers Open Fire on my computer. I haven't listened to it that much, but so far I don't really enjoy it. A bit noisy and trashy punk-rock maybe, with some electronic elements and tapes. You can hear some traces, although slight, of what they were to become, though.

i have not yet heard five suns, though i have high hopes for it. Black Oni i liked at first, but now i find it rather predictable and derrivative. Elixirs is my favorite, as i think its thier most origional sounding, even if Guapo are beginning to sound like a project (which i suppose they are now) rather than a band.
2 further questions:-
1.Has anyone got Daniel O'Sullivan's Mothlite album? i seriously recommend it.
2.Has anyone got the early Guapo albums like 'Towers open fire'. they have long since been unavailable and i'd love to know what they sound like

Five Suns and Black Oni are about tied for me. Love both. I'm not so enamoured with Elixirs (I find it less substantial). I've voted for Black Oni in the past, but now I'm giving it to Five Suns. Both are great, imo. Incidentally, I also like Twisted Stems muchly (and Miasma and The Carousel of Headless Horses is great).

Black Oni easily, really enjoy the others but for me Black Oni is one of the most ferocious displays of awesomeness in my entire music collection.
