The one with John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Tony Williams, Wayne Shorter and Miles... (think of the line-up for a minute)   In a Silent Way

A very close call for me, but I had to go with Nursery Cryme as my favourite Genesis album of all time and one of my top five. Special mention to Discipline, though.

Mine was between Jack Johnson, In a Silent Way, and Discipline...Either I haven't heard some of the rest or I've only heard one or two tracks, or with the Mars Volta albums I don't think they're enough competition for the others (not to say I don't like them).  Silent Way got my vote though, barely edging out Discipline tonight.

Many  great albums here. I'm sure the three Miles Davis albums will last for a lifetime.

I voted for Get Up With It, a completely unique, rarely talked about masterpiece. His 32 min. long heartfelt tribute to Duke Ellington: He Loved Him Madly (listen) is Miles at his most beautiful, ambient, and spacy. Funeral music:

There's a great flute solo starting at around 11 minutes and then Miles comes in with the wah-trumpet at around the 13 minute mark playing the most mournful, sorrowful lines I've ever heard. This piece is incredibly moving. It's dense. It's rather like walking into a dark tunnel with the sunlight at your back and you can feel the tunnel narrowing and you know there's no going backward. It has the acknowledgement of one's own eventual death and mortality written all over it. Amazon review by: Talking Wall

Then there's another 32 min. long track. The wild & dark Calypso Frelimo. And there's six more amazing tracks.

Every home needs a copy of Nursery Cryme and National Health's debut, and all the South american prog in the poll should please although I don't consider them classics (maybe M.I.A's title track).
Over land and under ashes
In the sunlight, see - it flashes
Find a fly and eat his eye
But don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
