PORCUPINE TREE's new album will contain a 50-minute long continuous song cycle, along with three additional "shorter" songs. A September 22 release is expected. The band will embark on a U.S. tour to coincide with the album's arrival.

How did I miss this? Anyway . . . good for Steve! It's about time someone prominent in the Prog scene embraced it for all it's worth and did something ambitious like this once again. I'm very excited about this news.

Seriously, this sounds really promising.  I'd love a bit of the atmosphere of Deadwing combined with the spaceyness of their old stuff, plus a some good old space-rock jamming (noodling as some pagans would call it).

Bring on the Tree!  I first heard them and saw them live about 10 years ago, then forgot about them, and just this past year I've caught myself up, and HOLY COW - what a discography they've put out.  Fantastic album after fantastic album.... what a great rediscovery it was for me.   Can't wait to hear the next one.

I for one say go for two discs. Cool (Though I suspect he will do the usual EP before/after the album  consisting of these shorter songs)
