Queen by about 1000 miles.
And lo, the mighty riffage was played and it was good

Come on!!!Styx vs. Queen????. Queen gets my vote 10.000 times. That said, I don't think Styx is a terrible band. But a proper rival for them would be something like Journey, or Saga

Queen, if only for the first album. Styx??? They were always seemed to be a joke that got way too old.

Styx. I can't stand Queen in the least bit. Hate the vocals, and the instrumentals usually just add to my despair. One of my all-time least favorite bands. It doesn't even matter if I like or hate the Styx. Queen easily wins the competition.

Queen---Masters of the 70's rock opera..Freddie probably one of the best rock vocalists to ever hit the stage. Styx lost me after Grand Illusion...."Dodo Origame, Mr Retardo..." (something like that...) LOL

Queen gets my vote.

Both bands are really excellent. I loved the Early Styx as well as Queen, but Styx changed their line-up a few times and Queen just became an intense rock band. I vote for Queen.  Favorite early songs Queen "Great King Rat"  Styx "You Need Love"

assume the power 1586/14.3

Styx is definitely closer to progressive rock, with their concept albums, largely due to Dennis DeYoung... though both bands have that grandiose sound (in slightly different ways).  My vote goes for queen though, just because I think they generally had a higher level of musicianship... and Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest rock singers of all time

Queen, no question.

BUT, when Styx was good, they were good.  They could do alot more live than Queen could... I.E. All their vocal and guitar harmonies without resulting to a backing tape like Queen had to do.

Well, I'm a fan of both of these bands.   Styx was really cool up through Paradise Theatre, although I really loved their first 5 albums with the late, great John Curulewski, especially The Serpent Is Rising.  However, Queen rules this poll easily.  To quote the title from one of their 6,000 compilations (beaten out by perhaps only BOC on number of compilations) Queen Rocks.  Cool
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Queen....Rarely I listen to them nowadays, but Brian May made me pick up for the first time a guitar.
