I am loving this band! I'm listening to their album right now and it's incredible, it's mind-blowing. Where can I get more of this great sound?

It'd be cool if there was more discussion about this band too, although since they only have one album I can understand if there isn't a lot

Look into main man and keyboardist Dan Britton's other projects such as Deluge Grander and Cerebus Effect. While not quite the same stylistically as B&B,I think you will dig his other work.

Ever since I heard Cerebus Effect's Acts of Deception, I've been hooked on Dan Britton's music and bands (Those being Deluge Grander and B&B).
Fantastic, energetic music, varied and eclectic, you get a mixture from various styles and sounds.

Looking forward to the new B&B to be released later this year hopefully.

Also, to the thread-opener, here's a bit of news I posted a while back here:
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=56549&KW=britton

"The second Deluge Grander album "The Form of the Good" is at the printers and will hopefully be available by mid-April.
Samples from it can be heard on the Myspace page http://www.myspace.com/delugegrander and check the main site (www.delugegrander.com) in a few days too for updates.
Work has began on the third Deluge Grander album already and this one might be a vinyl-only release at first.

As for the other Dan Britton projects which will hopefully be released in 2009, Dan emailed me that the second album of Birds and  Buildings is in the works, following the previous albums' style ("avant/jazz prog with busy drums and sax") and probably called "Multipurpose Trap".
www.myspace.com/birdsandbuildings

Another project with Megan Wheatley singing is called All Over Everywhere and is a song-based album called "Inner Firmaments Decay."  "This will be quieter acoustic-based songs" as Dan says..

Another project called (probably) Elevator Machine Room along with Chris Mack of Oblivion Sun and Illuvatar is also in the works.
"

I also love Birds & Buildings. I found it a shame how overlooked they went last year in the Collaborator's best albums of the year thread. They deserved a much higher position than they received (it was either really low or just an honorable mention - I can't quite remember). I'm glad you found them!

Edit: I just looked and they were actually tied for 11th with Marillion (which is a joke to me...). Not that bad. The album is #7 on the site for 2008 though which is pretty cool.

Avestin, thanks so much for the info! Multipurpose Trap has got to be some of the best news I've heard in ages.

I also think that Deluge Grander will be my next purchase, though I think that I'll pick up their debut before buying The Form of the Good. It's cool to hear about All Over Everywhere. I'm not sure if it'll be my cup of tea but Megan's voice is incredible and of course Dan is extremely gifted so it'll be worth a listen at least, I think.

Kestrel, I know what you mean. I feel they ought to be rated a lot higher than they are. I don't think they're getting the publicity they need. Like you've said they've mostly got a MySpace page and that's it. People need to spread the word!

Hmm. I feel like I'm missing something here... I listened to Deluge Grander's debut a few times and it never really stuck with me. If the Birds and Buildings myspace samples are anything to go by then this project is much the same. What is it about Britton's compositions which makes them so forgettable to me, I wonder?

I have all three Britton projects and they are all good quality to me.  Probably prefer Cerebus Effect, but B&B not far behind.  Definitely looking forward to the new album.

I've been relistening to all Dan Britton's bands lately and this particular one has just been an ear worm lately for me; it seems to have sunk even further into my brain and if I was hooked before, it is even more so now.
But one needs to give a really proper listen to capture well the nuances and the intricacies of the tunes and the musicianship.

Glad you enjoy it, Memo Smile

I really like Birds and Buildings. Their album has been on my very long list to buy for a while now. I must get it soon, hopefully next month.

Mr. Dan Britton of Prog Sphere recently sat down for a live interview with Mr. Dan Britton of Birds and Buildings and Deluge Grander fame. The two of them talked about Italian Prog, Opeth, the five or so albums Britton is apparently working on at the moment, and much more. Be warned, Mr. Britton and Mr. Thaler diverged from the topic at hand a few times to talk about stuff that had very little to do with the actual interview. We still find that stuff interesting, though! The interview is viewable on: http://prog-sphere.blogspot.com/2010/05/dan-britton-maestro-of-many-projects.html
