I've heard the album preview a couple of times now.......BRILLIANT. What I love about this album is that it is coming out at a time when I have fully dove into the world of metal, something I harshly criticized in the past. I loved FOABP but always thought I was being taunted by how short the great heavy parts were. Now, the parts are even heavier. You can really hear the Meshuggah influence in them now. I also love the added electronic bits in PT now, which I've never heard quite to the level as I heard in the incident preview. I was pretty skeptical initially with this release in that I thought nothing could top Fear of a Blank Planet (or at least I wouldn't like it as much) but now I have no hesitation in saying this is probably going to be their best album yet!!

This is sad news. At least to me.

I'm pretty interseted now. Added electronics and a Mushuggah influence? That sounds really awesome. Initially I wasnt planning on getting very excited about the new one, but I like your observation.

Can we get a link to this preview?

Thankyou kind sir!

I'll have to buy this on the release date... The first track, that is!

Will it be released as a CD single, or only an MP3 download?

Well I for one wasn't too impressed with the preview. Nothing really stood out to me. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't incredible. Of course, these kinds of previews aren't always the best way to sample new music, so I'm not going to say much else about it. Some parts did sound really promising and it would have been great to hear where they went with those ideas so hopefully it'll excite me more when the full song drops.

To each his own

I'm thinking of renaming this thread to "Countdown to "The Incident""

Should I?

Really looking forward to this - there's a lot of people talking about it, clearly.

They are getting too popular though - £27-50 for gig tickets.  Help!!

Hey - I remember Steve Wilson saying he regretted "The Sky moves Sideways".   Hmmm... a 55-minute piece - er, Steve - what's going on?LOL

Mmm it sounds ok. Im a big PT fan and I found FOABP just amazing!!! Hopefully this one will be as great as FOABP.

PS. The guitars sounds really really distorted or its just me?

They weren't too distorted, but as far as PT go, they weren't exactly clean...

Hopefully theres nothing along the lines of the Chords during "The Creator Had A Mastertape".

This album is going to be awesome, although that's not something I wouldn't expect from PT!  I hope there are more mellow parts on this one than FOABP though.  I just want to see another change in musical direction; I want to be surprised.  And yeah, definitely getting the album the day it comes out, and if there's a special edition, I'm getting that too!  $40-$50 is a small price to pay for all that PT have given me!

And yes Joel, change the topic title to countdown thread Big smile
