I use Mac but I prefer Windows. The only thing I love about Mac is that it hasn't crashed like all my windows computers.

Has anyone here tried FreeDOS? I just heard about it and was wondering if it works like the real thing or are there compatibility problems?

I thought Mac would be in the lead.  Interesting to see the preponderance of reluctant Windows users.

Why must my spell-checker continually underline the word "prog"?

Windows Xp, but they'll drag me into Vista/'Windows 7 kicking and screaming. actually, because of Dx11 I'll have to get Win7 and a new video card. Which damned annoying considering my current card is one of the fastest on the market, but it won't support the new Dx11 interfaces, which I'm sure are only mildly different than dx10. And there's no trade up program for nvidia users either. The only thing like it is evga's step up program, but that only works if the card was purchased in the last 90 days. It's ridicilous to have to drop about 500 bucks each year to keep a current machine.

If you're not familiar with Linux, don't try it for audio, you will have trouble, especially for advanced midi...
If it's not for recording/audio, Ubuntu is probably one of the best OS out there, and is very easy to use (nothing to be afraid of). The "command line" phobia is not relevant anymore!
