UPSILON ACRUX

Upsilon Acrux (Los Angeles) is an instrumental quintet (dual guitars, keyboards, bass and drums). They are one of the most creative and original of the shockingly large number of great post-punk, avant-garde rock bands today and are regulars of the now legendary Smell venue in L.A. This is their sixth album of explosive, intense and surprisingly beautiful intricate, instrumental rock. UA continue to develop their uncompromising sound and intense live shows/tours with such acts as The Boredoms, The Ruins, Mission of Burma, the Locust, Don Caballero, Bad Dudes, the f**king Champs, Dillinger Escape Plan, Cattle Decapitation, Black Heart Procession, Hella, Lightning Bolt, Marnie Stern, Flying Luttenbachers, Orthrelm, Time of Orchids, Experimental Dental School, Truman's Water and Mick Barr.

"...a stunning example of both virtuosity and clever composition...amazing, and amazingly consistent...." – All Music Guide

"Seldom is music so challenging also so easy to listen to." – Prefix

“The best new band in California” – Bobby Bray (The Locust)

"Mixing instrumental complexity within highly structured mini epics...these guys sweat and spray us with the results." – Modern Drummer

"... [they] have the ability to make instrumental music interesting at any speed. It’s Upsilon Acrux’s songwriting that sets them apart, not flashy instrumentalism or fiery bombast" --Dusted Magazine

"...weird and playful and glowing, a much-needed antidote to the normally sober world of instrumental progressive rock" --Prefix Magazine

Tour Support: THE LAZE

A Wirralien 6-piece with Progressive/Soundtrack & Science Fiction/Psychedelic allusions. Melodic guitar, cosmic synths, screaming sax and pounding rhythms conspire to rewire neural pathways. Enmeshed in Liverpool's avant-garde scene (a.P.A.t.T., Mugstar, Zukanican et al). The Laze have also played with the likes of Acid Mothers Temple, Circulus, Damo Suzuki, Diagonal, Gonga, The Mae Shi, Polar Bear, Pulled Apart By Horses, Rolo Tomassi & Vialka.
The Laze will be promoting their forthcoming LP "Spacetime Fabric Conditioner".

Is it actually there, though?

It could be at a different venue.

I have a mate who lives in Winchester... hmm, I doubt he'll be interested though.

Unfortunately gentlemen, Winchester has become Worcester.

I hope there is another city that works for you.  Or that we get another southern date on the 5th...

More information as and when.

Why all the cancellations for such a brilliant band?

It's not fair.  I guess the UK aren't ready for you guys yet!  Grrr!

Milton Keynes was also not far from me... I guess Worcester it might have to be then.

Alas you cannot come round mine but if there's a party, maybe I'll find my way there!

And another new album?  Radian Futura is excellent and I cannot wait to hear you guys perform live!

I think I'll be able to get myself one of those 100 if I'm lucky.  You can always drop one off at mine on your way through!

Do you know if tickets are on sale for Worcester yet?  It's creeping up to October already.

Whoops!

But still... it's still disappointing that these gigs are getting cancelled.
