Topic: Greatest Musical Climax in Genesis History Posted: November 12 2009 at 14:46 |
I would add Dancing with the Moonlit Knight but it concludes with a transitional sectional/mood.

Supper's ready is the only one that really makes me feel it. Although i do love Firth or Fifth's climax, it just doesn't get me quite the same

Supper's Ready, no doubt, the ending of the Apocalypse 9/8 section and the final part make out a climax any respectable band should envy of.

I'll put in a vote for Musical Box because of the classic climax and the fact that Supper's Ready is going to make this one silly.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Can-Utility And The Coastliners. The final minute of the song is absolutely epic. Supper's a close second though.

Musical Box was what popped in my head when I read the topic. Supper's Ready would be second, but I think the ending is far more powerful then the Apocalypse section, which is actually a pretty tame climax I think.

The Musical Box has one of my favorite climaxes in music. Supper's Ready is great too, but there's much better parts of the song which somewhat diminishes it for me.

I'm going for Firth of Fifth, but every track is close to winning.
Marvellous band.

Supper's Ready although an honorable mention to Can-Utility.

I'm going to have to say 'In The Cage' for this one. But only the original one, not the Three Sides Live version. Supper's Ready comes a very very close second.

Hogweed. I always loved the big powerchord ending.
I always feel ripped off with the ending of Suppers Ready. Steve Hacket gives one of his best ever solo's and they fade it out so you can never quite hear it all. The Archive live version comes closer but the mix engineer still fades the band out. Doh!

Are you serious, Cinema Show did not get a single vote??
That joyous synthesizer solo and driving rhythm is a climax that resonates with me more than any of the other choices.
"Musical Box" is my runner up. What a climax!

That may be my favourite song of all time but I don't feel it has a climax, at least that's how I hear it.

I think the "Three sides live" version of fountain of salmacis is the greatest climax in Genesis history... The guitar solo first... Later It has a kind of "false" finale... then you hear a scream form the audience... And explodes with the final majestic mellotorn chord... Itīs just too much!!!
